What does "troll" mean or are you referring to the naked dancing baby with graffitti on his chest?

Well "troll" means that a person comes on here and just pushes peoples buttons.
Everyone of course has varying opinions about the show, the campaign, the impending return, the people here, etc., etc. but there are some people who come here to just bug people cause they have nothing else better to do.

The naked, dancing, painted baby above is disturbing and yet, strangely hypnotic, but I have no idea what it means or stands for. You'll have to ask bouyantman

well im glad someone cleared that up 4 me, cause sometimes i call my girlfriend troll because it rhymes with nichole (her name) but it is just a term of endearment....i'm just glad she doesnt do the same back, as my name is jay, and there's lotsa things that rhyme with that!

Judith

Yeah. So basically, if your girlfriend hasn't signed up yet, just tell her not to sign up as troll333, and you'll be okay.

lol...I have to agree as well that the baby really is strangely hypnotic. I stared at it for a few minutes before finally clicking out the window. I just don't know what it is. I'm checking myself into a clinic now... :D

LOL. Yeah, I guess taking troll333 as a handle would be asking for it. Just as bad as the list of things not to do at the LOTR ROTK movie debut.

I did think of the dancing baby above as a representation of the 333 troll boy.

BTW, my local theater is now selling tickets to LOTR ROTK for the Dec 17 - 21 dates. Of course, I am thinking of buying some, assuming they are not already sold out.

True Selena. It is the behavior on the board that matters. If the actual troll333 signed up and behaved, I would welcome him. If he actually would engage in civil discourse, it might even be possible to successfully scape him. My belief is that in real life he must be unsuccessful and insignificant, or at least feel that way about himself. Being a troll and eliciting a reaction from people is his way of dealing with those feelings. What is ironic is that if he were to be civil and actually talked normally with people on the boards he torments, he would probably be excepted and would have a community to which he could belong. I think people on this board are actually quite forgiving of other members shortcomings and social goofs, as long as it is perceived that the mistakes are genuine (as opposed to trolling) and you are willing to learn from your mistakes.

What do these malcontents get out of trolling?

You know, while I DO enjoy really giving a troll a drubbing, I don't see how one could enjoy abusing somebody who isn't actually "asking for it".

So the question is, how does the Pisher Man or Trollboy get to the point that they see Scapers as "asking for it"?

Yes, Pisher has a vendetta against D.K. Is that all there is to it? He seems to have generalized to the success of SaveFarscape.com -- is this just because he is an outcast?

As for Trollboy, what the devil can he possibly get out of all those posts when it is apparent the only ones reading him are people who are laughing at his expense? Doubly so because he knows he'll be deleted in totality at the beginning of the week.

Makes no sense to me at all. Even falling back on my psych degree, it seems really strange, short of schizophrenia.

I think it is the fact that they are getting people to react to them that is the reward. As I said, I believe the trolls feel in real life that they are insignificant etc, so that even though all the feed back they get on-line is negative, it is still feedback. They can feel important because they have forced people to pay attention. That people are making fun of them is ignored. In his own mind, Troll333 may even think he is smatter and more witty than the rest of us. He is fooling himself, but he may not be capable of the objectivity required to come to that realization. He, and other trolls, really are quite pitiful. As I said, it is quite an ironic situation because a change in tactics could gain them the acceptance I think they want.

Haven't touched it in ten years... and I focused more on physiopsych. But I was more into Erikson et. al. when it came to applying psych to "normal" folks. Probably a wasted effort on these characters.

Sure, your penis is the one actually getting the action, but he fills you in on all the details, in real time. Sooo,,, could we say that your are living vicariously through your penis? :D I hesitate to make this point because it is a charge that might be brought against all males.

Well, if you can't deal with the environment in person, you might consider some kind of probe.

. . . The baby was creepy. Yeah, with the backside of it's head, hair and ears (above the neckline only) I was thinking either Ted Koppel or George W. Bush.
