Are the DRD's sentient? Like, not in the sense that we are, but in the sense that a dog or cat or rat would be. Like, do they "think"? Do they have feelings? It's always seemed to me that they do, but I'm not sure. One Eye and 1812 sure seem to like John.

They have to be because 1812 is from a different Leviathon. Unless they are interchangeable, but 1812 seems to listen to JC and not Moya or Pilot.

Being part of a Leviathan, logically they're biomechanoid. And they can operate semi-independently (and be transferred from one Leviathan to another, as stellar pointed out). Both would fit with them having some limited sentience.

And at least some of them have "personalities" - 1812 and DRD Pike/One-Eye are distinct individuals.

We know that Sikozou is sentient, but does that mean that all forms of biomechanoid life is sentient?

Conversely, if the DRDs were somehow purely mechanical, would that rule out the possibility of them being sentient?
