Leviathan Question

So in a lot of episodes, we hear Pilot saying that he and Moya like having a crew on board, and pretty much get the idea that Leviathans are actually supposed to have a crew. So when Leviathans aren't enslaved by Peacekeepers, where do they usually get their crews from? Is it just random, or is there a particular species that Leviathans usually transport? Any theories (or actual facts)?

In Incubator, Linfer hinted her species had a special relationship to Leviathans, I assume its probably random if there isn't antoher race involved as a third party. An interesting question. Its possible if not likely that the Peacekeepers aren't the only race who enslave Leviathans.

In the one season 3 episode Pilot makes mention of the fact that the Relgarians have worked with Leviathans in the past. It sounds like there is at least this one species that is friendly towards Leviathans.

I thought Leviathans had a sort of inborn desire to 'serve' ? Can't remember which ep I got that idea from. or which episodes.

Also, in Wait for the Wheel, Pilot trusted Linfer because of the relationship her species had with Leviathans and Pilots. So there's one species that travels on Leviathans.

What's-her-face from Meltdown, the ghost woman Stark was so eager to help, she was traveling aboard a Leviathan too. So is her race considered friendly also?

yeah i guess this question just leads me back to the one i had in the other thread, that PK's use them as prison ships, and judging by moya's passenger quarters etc. they do appear to be just that, yet they hate being enslaved (we assume) by PK's, so what am I asking again? Frell this show gives me mushmind!

I'm not totally sure but I think that was Incubator, not Wait for the Wheel

In any case, it seems Leviathans like to serve, not be opressed. If you remember, all the PK Leviathans we've seen so far (well, two - Moya and Rovhu) were wearing Control Collars that hindered their movement.

I think Leviathans do like to be free, but they'll carry their passengers where they want to go just so long as they can have a bit of time doing what they want. It seems to be mainly about respect - Leviathans were abused and tortured by the Peacekeepers, but Moya's crew treat Moya with respect and know she is part of the crew as well. Maybe Linfer's people were like that as well?
