View Full Version : Nemesisi snurched from Farscape?

Today I watched Nemesis for the second time, and I realized some similarities to Farscape:
-the chase in the funny looking car (named Argo by the way!) through the desert looked remarkably like the scenes in Infinite possibilities,
-the stairwell on Shinzonīs ship reminded me strongly of the stairs that Scorpius comes down in Into the lionīs den, before the command carrier blows to pieces,
-Shinzonīs clothes and his appearance is total Scorpius, I think, and
-the whole cloning and Data 2 thing is the same theme as in Season 3!
Or maybe Iīm only Farscape-crazy!:ewink:

See what happens when you get addicted to Farscape....it's on your brain all the time...everything is compared to 'Farscape Standards':whip: :smokin:

There was a LOT before Farscape to borrow from...
I've seen the stairs before Farscape.. Emperor's throne room in Star Wars Episode VI.
The car scenes in both are reminiscent of Mad Max: The Road Warrior.
[color=burlywood]I've seen Shinzon's outfit or something like it in Flash Gordon (not sure which version... maybe the original).
And cloning has been done out the wazoo all over the place.
The trick is, Farscape usually does it better than its been done before, so it is VERY EASY to feel like it was the original.

exactly...
Don't diss my Star Trek, it was before it...
I happen to think Nemesis is one of the best movies of Star Trek...

Actually, I thought that 'Nemesis' was very Farscapian - from the 'Remen' (prosthetics and all) to the balls-walls attitude of Picard actually using the Enterprise to ram the Reman ship - I never thought I'd see the Enterprise used as a battering ram, much less willfully damaged by one of its captains. (Whooo-hoo!)
Though lots and lots of people hated this movie, I thought it was great.
(I guess its time to put my FMD Pariah status in my sig...)

I liked Nemesis, I'm just Farscapsick. I love Star Trek and most space movies. So let's not get carried away. (of course if Dargo want's to carry me off, I'm a willing victum)

Am I the only one who thought that Nemesis lacked some contnuity from TNG? I'm not putting it down it was cool. I just had contnuity issues with it.

Nope,
Just watched it again (Darn ya'll for giving me ideas...)
I love it, great bad guy, plenty of action...
my only complaint, THEY SHOULD'VE DESTROYED THE SHIP...
ahhhh....
there's plenty of letters in the alaphbet left...
darn auto destruct off-line, not supposed to break..
anyways, it ties w/ first contact and generations... I personally HATED insurrection...
I mean come-on...

I thought Nemesis was one of the weakest of the Trek movies. It was a cool idea to make a darker themed trek movie, but the poor directing, weak dialogue, and unimagimative action sequences following an even weaker plot line didn't quite pan out imo..
..Now Insurrection, that is a good trek movie. The locations are stunning, the direction and dialouge is top notch and action sequeces are well done. Plus the actors seemed full of energy and enjoying themselves, where as in Nemesis they seemed old and tired of Trek. Plus, everyone but Data and Picard from the cew had like two lines..
..if only they had made a strong Romulan driven plot and dropped all of Shinzons freak friends showing up and running around in every other scene..

who is actually happy that Data is gone.
I am. I disliked his character from the begining... he was just an excuse to advance silly and weak plots.

Insurrection Rocked I thought it was really good, and yes I liked it better than Nemesis!

Grinner, Data has actually grown on me. Granted, in the begining of TNG he was a complete tool. But in later eps, like decent, which i just caught, and in First Contact, he's a bad ass.

he was great in First Contact
BTW: if there is another Startrek movie I think he'll be in it just not as DATA as the other android... I can't remember he's name... I know this one... darn okay it'll come to me.

Well give some credit to Kirk. He blew up an entire ship just so "Klingons" wouldn't get ahold of it, but we all know he just did it to off some wrinkle headed S&M Freaks(not in the good Scorpy way either.)

B4 was the android's name...
Insurrection lacked action, and blowing things up except in the last 15 min.
I hated it, plus to me the bad guy was just NOT convincing...
First contact was good (can't go wrong w/ the borg), and Nemesis was excellent, too bad it didn't go to imax like Attack of the clone..
Ya'll stop dissing it, ya'll gonna make me mad. I am a die hard star trek fan, seen several of the orginal shows, all of TNG, all of VOYAGER, all of DS:9, and all of Enterprise they've shown so far. My dad rasied me on sci-fi (mom didn't care I guess, although she don't watch it... )

The thng that really makes me wonder - and likely an unpopular position - is how, after all of the gritty, dark, risk-taking they proved they were capable of in 'Nemesis' - HOW could Berman and Braga could do such a crap-u-tastic job with Enterprise?
Sorry padme... 'Nemesis' was the best Trek movie, probably followed by 'First Contact' and then 'ST:The Motion Picture' for camp value and '2001' nostalgia. But I was/am a TNG fan.
I'll stop there, and keep my other enumerations to myself - B5 and Farscape have ruined me for other things...

B4 I knew it I just wasn't sure it was such a simple name it had to be wrong

Data was the comic relief that Trek needed. But I would hate to see a new trek film with the retarded version of data rebooting data's personality
I was shocked that they killed him off, but if there were to be another, they need to leave him dead, no search for data plots

I liked Data too, but it is more fun to watch an actor play Crazy(Lore) than Emotionless(Data).

Yes, they attempted the gritty, dark, risk-taking approach to Nemesis, but failed horribly. Even Generations, despite having more plot line flaws than Enterprise's continuation of the trek timeline, proved a better movie.
..and Insurrection had more action than just the last 15 min, not that I judge a movies quality on how many 'things they blow up'
The shuttle craft chase with Data is so much better than the Argo chase in Nemsis, that was the most pointless and boring action scene of any Trek movie

Donīt get me wrong- Iīm not saying I donīt like Nemesis! I like it for multiple reasons:
-love Picard,
-Data too (and twice!),
-villain is actually a grey character, because you pity him nearly as much as you dislike him. I donīt think I could hate him (because he has something from Picard!)
-and then of course: It reminds me of Farscape!:D
