Question directed at, well, everyone.

With farscape.com being updated with only news and no community info has anyone tried to contact TJHC and find out if they would allow "us" to continue to update it, seeing as we have both the manpower and the desire.

is there much of a point? newbies all in some way or another get directed here, i think this site probably gets more attention at this point than any other FS related site...I might be wrong

I think there's a lot of benefit to having the community sites separate from the official site. This way we don't have anybody looking over our shoulder, concerned lest we say anything inappropriate to an official channel. Not that I'm worried about Henson being overly meddlesome. But any corporate entity is going to be worried about its image in ways that might cause us problems.

I think of the problems the Blue Lady folks had over the name Scapercon. Everything had to be approved by TPTB, which led to delays and frustration. So the last con went by the less euphonious but legally noncontroversial designation of SC2K3. And everybody was happy. Even those of us who continued to call it Scapercon. :D

I dont know.
I am not saying that we should have what we have here, but there should be a more up-to-date look for the site, more content on the actors and the show. It honestly looks half assed and lame. Imagine if you will, if you had never seen an episode of Farscape, and you were told about the show, you then check out the site and see that its incomplete and messy, what would your first impression be of the show be then?

In this meida world image is everything.

The thing is it's Henson's site and as such it's a commercial site. As a fandom we've prided ourselves as being grassroots and doing what we can without help if we can. As such that makes us non commercial and non profit.

As much as it would be fabulous to have farscape.com as the ultimate source of Farscape on the net there is little we can do to change the site as we don't own it or have any influence on it. I can only suggest emailing them to ask for an update but to be honest Henson's have a heap of things on their plate and very few resources I would imagine to do everything as well as they want to. To be fair their site has never really been overly information filled or whizzy so it's not like it once was and we are lamenting over past glories. :)

As people have said before I really can't see them handing over the reins to anyone not in their employ to be honest because of legal reasons and responsibilties to their franchise and image. I don't think we can blame them for wanting to do that. :)
