Hi all. I have a bottle of Jack that is looking mighty tempting and I don't want to drink it straight since I have to work in the morning....

We have no Coke or Pepsi, all we have is Diet Dr. Pepper...think I could mix Jack with the Dr.?

Or what recipies do you all have to offer me?

Eh, what the heck, try it and see if you like it. By the 3rd one you won't even taste it. :) :) :) :)

Two foul tastes that probably would go great together. Anything else? OJ, snapple?

ooo snapple, I would have never thought of that. I remember one time when I was still living at home, all that was in the cabinet was Black Velvet. We had grape soda in the fridge and I decided to mix that. Really, it did taste good.

Lord Loser
12-12-2003, 06:56 PM
All I had in the fridge was a snapple kiwi strawberry to go with my bushmills. So I decided to give it a try (as I suggest you do JL). I poured a little glass full of the snapple and then added an appropriate amount of hooch to see if the combination was worth drinking. Believe it or not, GOOD STUFF!

The moral of the story? Don't be scared to try anything, just start small so you don't ruin the whole batch if you don't like it.

JadedLegend3

Well, my dad is anti-alcohol and he's getting ready to leave (he's working the graveyard shift tonight), so when he goes, I'll give it a try and let you all know how it works out!

Like I said, by the 3rd you don't taste it anymore. I remember just experimenting and most of the time they came out great. But then again, if you want it bad enough and need to mix it, who cares what it tastes like? Just don't get so ripped that you can't remember what the mixture was. :):):):):)

Try Jagermeister, Goldshlager, rumplemans, and rum 151 in a doubleshot. It's called a "liquid Heroine". It tastes like a peppermint patty on fire. Just watch out, becuase when it hits you, it will knock you over.

grinner

That is called a 'Hitler's Revenge'(not the drink Harvey mentioned... the one with the BlacHaus Blackberry Schnaaps.)

Drink Name: Screaming Blue Monkey
Drink type: Cocktail

Ingredients:
3/4 oz. Absolut Vodka
1 oz. Blue Curacao
1 oz. Banana Liqueur
Sour Mix

Directions: Pour into a highball glass and fill with Sour Mix. This drink is very good and was a hit with my regulars. Be sure to serve it cold with plenty of ice.

Mind Eraser #2

Ingredients:

3-4 cubes Ice
1/2 shot Kahlua
1/2 shot Vodka
1 shot Sprite to taste

Mixing instructions:

Place ice cubes in a small, narrow glass. To this add the kahlua, then the vodka and finally the sprite (sprite should be about half of the shot.)

Summer Mind Eraser

Ingredients:

Ice
3 cl Peach schnapps
3 cl Midori melon liqueur
Top with Champagne

Mixing instructions:

First, fill the champagne flute with heaps of ice. Next, pour in your Schnapps and Midori. Now fill the flute to the top with Champagne. Let the drink settle for a minute (especially if you've been pouring behind a busy, bumpy nightclub!). Use a long bar straw to drink the shot from the bottom up (push the straw right to the bottom of the flute before starting), all at once! Very Important - Don't stop in the middle of the drink!

Mind Eraser #2

Type:

Shooter

Ingredients:

1 oz. Kahlua
1 oz. Bacardi 151 Proof Rum
1 oz. Tonic Water

Go Metric!

Instructions:

Fill 1/3 of the glass with 151. Pour the Kahlua over the back of the spoon slowly to keep the liqueur's separate. Then do the same with the tonic/soda water. Place the straw at the bottom of the glass and drink it all in one suck. The 151 and Kahlua will tear your stomach up, but the tonic water will settle it back down. This is why it is important to drink it all at once. They also taste pretty good mixed.

Not if you hate black licorice and the smell gives you a migrain.

The way to do JD shots. One shot of JD. Chase with one shot of Jose Cuervo Strawberry Margarita Mix. After two or three of those, you don't taste the JD, and the Margarita mix starts tasting REALLY good!

Now if we're talking home-made concoctions, a friend of mine when we were just out of high school, wanted to make a tequila sunrise. The only problem was we didn't have any tequila, or OJ. What we did have was Black Velvet and Sunny D. After many :ewink: attempts, we finally got it right.

(NO ONE UNDER 21 ALLOWED TO READ BEYOND THIS POINT)
Take a clear glass and put a liberal amount of BV in. Add ice cold Sunny D until the glass is full. Now pour in some grenadine syrup until it looks really cool. Don't stir. What you'll end up with is a cocktail with red on the bottom gradually turning to orange on the top, and it goes down smoooooooooth and sweet. A bit too sweet for my tastes anymore, but there you have a Velvet Sunrise.

I am not sure really if that is the name of it them but that is what they look like. Its a shot with Baileys spooned in to look like a floating brain. They are so sweet and the go smooth.

Lord Loser
12-12-2003, 09:53 PM
Ahhhh, yesssss. The brain hemmorage.

Peach Schnapps
Float Bailey's
pour a bit of grenadine through the baileys to make that good clump of brain.

Look gross, not too bad though. The texture reminded me of drinking a raw egg...

BrowderChick

Yeah but they are good going down. Any other kinds? I remember someone making me a drink they called a Colorado Cooler. Tasted like kool-aide to me.

Lord Loser

I had a bartender give me a carrot cake once. It looked like pepto bismal, but tasted just like carrot cake. Pretty good.

I've never tried a Copper Camel, but friends I know drink them. I'm really not much of a shot kind of guy, stick mainly to Ron y Coca-cola and cerveza. Shot's let the coins fly too freely.

And your favorites?

BrowderChick
12-12-2003, 10:10 PM
I have never heard of the drinks you listed. The carrot cake sounds good. I like apple schnaaps and I like amaretto sours. Toasted almonds are good too.

Lord Loser
12-12-2003, 10:16 PM
Just remembered, copper camel is Kahlua and butterscotch schnapps.

Ron y Coca-Cola = Rum & Coke
cerveza = beer

Seems that Jack and Dr. Pep must've been a good combination. We haven't heard from Jaded in some time...

BrowderChick
12-12-2003, 10:22 PM
I see that. Either that or she ran out to buy the ingriedents of all the stuff mentioned on here. I know I am tempted to do that. That copper camel sounds really good. I think I am going to go out tomorrow night and get a little tipped.

Copper Camels are excellent. They were the primary beverage at a bachelorette party I hosted awhile back. Very nice. If you go for sweeter drinks, here's a couple to try:

Cherry Cheesecake

Dr. McGillicudy's Vanilla Schnapps
Cranberry Juice

or

Orange Marmalade

Dr. McGillicudy's Vanilla Schnapps
Orange Juice
Splash of cream

If you like frothy drinks, go for a Grasshopper. I know some people make them differently, but I use:

Creme de Cocoa
Creme de Minte
Whipping Cream or Table Cream
Ice
Blend and top with an Andes Mint if you want to show off.

I prefer something with a little kick to remind me that I'm drinking. Try Crown & Mt. Dew. JD & Mello Yello will work as a substitute.

OK, I'm done for now. :D

Ok. Now that we have got all the good stuff down the hatch, how about any good choices of wine. I like a sweeter one rather than a dry one. I will need to get a few bottles for Christmas gifts and to serve with dinner. Any thoughts?

Sorry, can't help ya there. Wine kills my ulcer - I'd be hurling for days! (sorry for that image) :yuck:

Incidentally, if you ever start to get sick after drinking wine, DON'T drink water! It makes the wine ferment in your stomach, and will only make you sicker! (I learned that the hard way)

I don't drink wine that often. Not particularly fond of it. I never heard of the water deal but then again I never had to do that. I WILL remember that though. I just have a few people that are coming over that prefer wine with dinner and I want to serve a good one so I don't look like an idiot. I know nothing about which wine goes with what or how they taste.

If I recall correctly from my waitressing days, red wine (preferably merlot) is served with red meat, and white wine (like zinfandel) is served with fish. Beyond that, I'm no help! Serve them a beer and tell them to be happy! :D

:) I would love to do just that. Believe me the guys will probably be doing just that. You know, sitting on the sofa with a hand under the wasteband of their jeans with a beer in the other hand. All of them except the "passing" of the remote. They do play fair here.

When my buddies come to my house, I point them toward the fridge and the cupboard above it. If they can't find the booze of their choice in one of two places, they are way too picky!

Now if it's women at my house, I'm a little more understanding - I'll even mix drinks for them. But guys? If they can't handle real drinks, they better bring their own! And if one asks for a low calorie beer, he might not ever get to step foot in my house again! Sacrilege! :D

:elol: Sadly, I think there's only a couple beers in my fridge right now. Everyone's been drinkin' me out of house and home! It's pretty bad when you come home at night and everyone else has drank all the hooch! Might as well not go home! :D

Far enough?

:rollin:

I am a "good" hostess. I cook and clean. Usually it's chips, dip and beer but this is for Christmas dinner so I have to have some class for a day. :)

Ktm's correct. Red meat -- red wine. White meat -- white wine. Now about the different flavors of wine, I'm ignorant. Don't like the stuff myself...

Well I guess I will just have to buy a few and put them on the counter and let them choose. I am serving ham and turkey so I guess I will have to get both. I will also throw in a few bottles of stuff for mixers.

Thats all I need is a bunch of drunk people eating turkey.

One night, I really wanted bacon, only I don't eat pork. So I bought turkey bacon. My boyfriend and I shared an entire package at once, and promptly fell asleep.
