Revived - PMU Foal Fund Project

Yes its back and in full force. Thanks to some diehards and a really nice lady named Judy we have a chance. Talyn our prospective foal is waiting for us to raise the money so that he can go live with Judy on Skyline Ranch. The ranch is involved with therapy and outreach programs. Judy the ranches' owner is very excited about all this and is willing to be another link in the chain in saving these foals from slaughter. Check out the links below and donate. Crichton's Spirit is a possible second foal if we can raise a lot of money in a short time.

How short?
Well nothing is set in stone because of paperwork involved. However I'm setting a deadline of Dec. 28th unless Victoria from Ransom Ranch tells me different.

How much?
Unfortunatly transporting foals from Canada to here is expensive business. Each foal will cost $1000. I think we can do it though.

And Crichton's Spirit is a perfectly gender-neutral name, so I think it should be fine for fillies and colts :) And as it translates to "Hope" I think it would be very appropriate :)

And Talyn, well, from an Earth point of view it's pretty gender neutral, too, unless you know :D

DDD, do you know which filly yet, or are you aiming at whatever they have available. I saw there were a few fillies left on the site and was just curious as to which one it might be.

No we don't. It kinda depends on the paperwork and their health and all that jazz. Victoria knows there are still some available but not which ones. Its why I was looking for a place to take them around here. When they arrive I'll be there with my camera and meeting those involved and our special foal or two.

I'm keeping the faith that the Scaper love will win out and two precious lives will be saved. They have a chance to help children where they are going. I think this is the true spirit of giving that will continue to give to future generations.

Hey :wave: just sent you $. I'm a horse person of 37 years and have a farm, {sorry no room for youngsters like this} :( you seem to have found a good home. Thank you for organizing this :D I have known of this situation and it's almost too much for my head to deal with. :( Can't wait for the pics.

BTW DivineDayDreams, I like you name. My FEI dressage horse is named Divinity. She was named by the Germans {she'd Hannoverian} , not me. I have just commited to a German {Oldenburg} yearling who's name is a "F" line and I had planned to call him Farscape {his registered name is Freelance, can't change papers}. All the Euro Warmbloods names must start with the letter of their parents. Some follow the father, some follow the gender of the foal, Colts to Dads and Fillys to mare.

Sorry, I don't think it can be extended because there is a deadline. That is one reason DDD came up with the raffle idea, to motivate people. But if you have donated, then you have a raffle # and you have the chance to win some really awesome stuff. Of course, maybe you'll get lucky and get a little extra cash for Christmas.

I have tried to PM Red several times including posting in the to do list thread about this project and no answer. JS suggested I contact one of the other moderators and I'll be doing that today.

IM writing as I have two horses in a program called Mustang MAGIC and have been looking for a larger horse as Im a larger woman and the director of the program there has suggested looking for a draft horse foal. We checked with several rescue sites but nothing has come of it. I saw your ad online. This foal would be used with children and teens and would have a good home. I would be the one actually purchasing the horse but she is the one with the experience and program that would be using any horse I purchased. I have 3 children and presently have a 6 year old horse and the baby filly who is almost 8 months. I work with teens and am hoping to learn more about my horses as well as the rescue horses through Carrie.

It looks good. But I agree with kechara, a little double checking can't hurt. How far from you is this place? Are they close enough to visit? Also, if they are non-profit, then there should be some records of their group and information. But they do look good, and if it helps kids, I think it is great.
