View Full Version : Can somebody explain 'host server' to me?
StarsGoBlue
12-13-2003, 05:39 PM
Use small words, please.
I have a DSL account through SBC Yahoo, and picked the Yahoo Briefcase (Yahoo Photos) option which gives me lots of storage for pics. It's on its own webpage and everything.
I have a few albums underway, mostly for my other hobby and icons for my LiveJournal.
Doesn't this mean that those images are stored somewhere other than on my computer? So if I wanted to upload one here, shouldn't I be able to?
I's so confused...

I think a host-server is when you're invited over for dinner at someone's house and the host serves you snacks and things...
(c'mon what'd ya expect from me. :ewink: )

Yahoo uses Geocities... actually Yahoo owns Geocities... and Geocities does NOT allow hotlinking. So you would NOT be able to link to your photos. And yes... you are using someone elses system to store your pictures.

SAT a perfect score is 1600, actually had someone score perfect in my class...
As for me, thanks for making me look this crap up BTW, of High School students, 97% in verbal, 99% in math.
