Hi all,

I would like to ask you to do my mom a favor. What is that favor? The favor is to keep your eyes and ears open for any jobs that may came in the city. My mom needs all of the networks that she can get right now. My got the job from pepsi by networking with a friend. and the rest of her friends own there own jobs. So, that networking will not work anymore. So, that is why I'm asking for your help. And I know that scapers are the best network around. So, if you hear or see any thing please post to this thread and also please leave where to send the rusame to.

Thanx.

Jen, is your mom looking for anything in particular? Does she have any special training, skills, or schooling?

I don't live in NY, but giving people a bit more to go on might be good.

Your right. Sorry about that. She is looking for work in Banking or as a customer services rep. No, my mom has no special trainning. My mom didn't go to collage. She didn't need to back then. She had me in stead of going to collage. Her skills are in Morgaging, some data entery and she also knows word and she a very good work. She can learn the job pretty quick. That is one of the reasons why she still has the temp job at pepsi because she to good to let go. But, they feel that they must. And she types about 40 word per minute. I don't know anything else.I just remember one more thing she was good as a customer service rep. She going with taking orders and stuff like that over the phone. I hope this helps.

Has she ever looked into www.hotjobs.com ?

I've heard that is a decent net-based placement service, although there's not personal contacts in there, she'll at least be able to browse what's out there, and get her resume on line.

Also try googling "career placement services."

Hopefully she can find something soon!

Hi,

Yes, my mom looks at hotjobs.com all most every week. She's just not doing it now because no body would hire her during the holiday season. And she looks at all of the job website that she can find. She's been looking for a perm. job for about 8 months now. And she also replys to the ads that she's good for gets no replys back from them and it's been going like this for 8 months like this. So, now you understand why she is getting the way she is now. She's not use to being out of a perm. job this long. The last time she lost a job, she found a new perm. job in about three to 4 months. And if she doesn't find a job in three months from when she loosing the job from pepsi. She will have to live off her cds and ira and then things will get really tight. And the longer it takes the less hope she has of finding a job.

Hey Jen

Just wanted to let you know, I will keep my eyes and ears open, and will certainly let you know if I hear about anything. For now, about the best suggestion I have is for her to send her resume off to some of the temp agencies in the city. While I know that is not the permanent job she is looking for, it might help you guys out a bit until she can find something more stable. This is a good time of year for temps, since businesses are trying to wrap up their books for the end of the year, and get their W-2 statements out to their employees. Many of them need a little bit of extra help, and go to temp agencies to find that help.

I'll let you know if I come up with anything else.

Hi E,

Thanx for keeping your eyes and ears open. Right now my mom has a temp job that will last until the new year. She'll be out of work sometime in Jan. I just feel that she needs all the help that she can get to find a job next year.

Hey Jen,

I talked to our office manager today. When we hired her, we went through an agency that does both Temp employment, and places people in permanent jobs. We use the same agency when we need a temp (which is very rare).

They are

Vance Staffing
12 E 41st St
Suite 1301
New York, NY

I think the zip code is 10017, but your mom should call to double check before she sends her resume to them. Their phone number is

212-661-8860
