He told pilot a wild story about what happened to him the girls and D'argo on the planet. Pilot didn't bealve any of what John said because It didn't seem real to him. But I want to know what parts you think John made up and what was real. Get it or do I need to elaborate more?

OH!!! SnS = Scratch-n-Sniff (duh!).
Hmmmmm.... I think there was some "unconscious" embellishments (like the guy telling his fishing tale.... "it was t----h----i----s BIG"). I'm thinkin' also of perspectives (e.g., The Ugly Truth). Each person has their own, slanted perspective on the events that happened. Just imagine what D'Argo's story would've been! HAHHH!!! :rollin: :rollin: :rollin: :rollin: :rollin:

Good question. It's hard to tell. I think the milking machine was probably described all wrong, just by Pilot's reaction and how it looked in the ep. It just didn't make sense. D'Argo was probably not as goofy in real life as John made him out to be. And John was probably not as heroic. But in what ways, who knows.
I always thought it would've been really cool to see a different ending. When John and D'Argo are arguing at the very end, it would've been fun to see flashes from what "really" happened. Like, instead of Chiana and Jool being the ones captured, it was John and D'Argo. So we'd know that Crichton had not only lied but had changed it to make him and D'Argo the heroes. Oh well.
THe other thing that makes this confusing is that John was drunk the whole time he was talking to Pilot. I don't know if that makes him tell the truth more or less.

Haven't you folks ever listened to a drunk try to tell a story? I wouldn't say he "embellished" or made up stuff -- I wouldn't even go as far as to say he lied. He's been drinking-- he's trying to tell Pilot what happened and he's feeling rather inebriated. That’s the whole point of the episode. I personally find the “plot holes” and embellishments quite hysterical when looked at in the context of intoxication.

IIRC, it was written as a (more serious) linear story, but when it was put together in the initial edit TPTB decided it wasn't what they wanted. THEN the "John talking to Pilot" scenes were written and filmed and it was re-edited for that "through a gentle haze of alcohol" effect.
My two cents (after donning a filter for the haze): what John said happened did happen. Remember, he was *very* upset when Pilot accused him of outright lying. (Embellishment, now...that's something else entirely! :D )

*snickers madly* John waking up in drag and on display in the window (girly scream..LMAO!!!!)... if he was lying outright wouldn't have "embellished" that right out? and only guys intoxicated would admit to waking up in womens clothing to 2 other guys.
*gazes at what she wrote thru alcohol fuzzied glasses* that makes sence ..right?

You also have to take into account how pilot imagined it. Even the best story teller can't get all the details across. I don't imagine for example that Crichton gave detailed descriptions of what the various aliens all looked like. He might have said Raxil was short and white with blue stripes but how'd he describe her voice? Pilot just made these sorts of things up in his own imagination. Pilot also likely made up a lot of the enviroments, he certainly has a flair for that colourful decor doesn't he. Might be his mind hopeing to imagine a world more vivid than the one dull brown wall he stares at 24/7. It's entirely possible that the real planet whatever might look completely differant from the one we saw.
For all we know the whole process of plugging people into machines to distil their juices is also much more detailed and complicated than it looked. Hell taking Chrichton's expert opinion into account who knows if that's even how or what they were doing.

I didnt really like Sn'S much really, i mean i liked it cause it was Farscape but i just found it didnt really progress the storyline much.
anyways...i think crichton was pretty much telling the 'real' story the whole way thru only except everynow and again he would over eggagerate just a tad.

My thoughts.....true, but probably embellished a bit. Mainly because no one every gets astory completely right, even if they're trying.
It would have been interesting to have each of the four character's own version of the story. Of course that would have taken up 4 eps, but would have probably been fun!

ROTFL I don't think Crichton would make up the part about waking up in drag with the women's thigh-hi's and all. :D If anything, he would've downplayed it. It would've been rather interesting to hear D'argo's side of the story, though. However, if it had been written more or less in that fashion, anyone who watched The X-Files knows about "Bad Blood" where Mulder & Scully tell their respective sides of a story -- some of it definitely embellished. ;) But Scrach N' Sniff has become one of my classics.
