My father around Halloween about seven years ago decided that he was going to make cupcakes for Halloween. That's okay, my dad was a bachelor for a long time, so he's got the whole cooking thing down. It was the type of cupcakes that had us concerned: pumpkin cupcakes with black licorish frosting. :yuck: He was greatly offeneded when no one else would eat them, after all, they were the traditional holiday colors (orange and black).

We still tease him about it to this day. LOL

So who has ever had someone make something just, really bizzare and random?

A few years ago, my sister made me some dinner and it was absolutely horrible. It was some sort of spicy hamburger patty with some sweet or spicy rice (I can't remember which). She is a good cook but I always have to give her grief about that meal.

I once had an urban legend party with Kentucky Fried rat and 250 dollar cookies and microwaved poodle and red velvet cake..oh, and pop rocks..I'm sure there was more..

Licorice icing on pumpkin muffins/cupcakes sounds pretty good to *me* - but I really do like strong flavors.

Cheers for your dad, Jade!

My stepmom made clam jello once. It was about 25 years ago and we still tease her about it.

Wha'ts so bizzare about pumpkin cupcakes? I love pumpkin foods. In fact, I have a whole cookbook of pumpkin recipes. The black licorice frosting; I'll give you that. It is weird, but then I never have liked licorice.

There aren't many foods I think are too bizzare to eat. I don't care much for insects, though I understand they are much appreciated in some cultures. I had blood pancakes (made with blood instead of the milk/liquid ingredients) when I lived in Finland. I never much cared for them, though the blood bread was pretty good, very moist, dark and rich.

several years ago I had a friend who ate peanut butter / mustard sandwiches everday for lunch.

It's not the pumpkin, it was the combination of the two.

I will confess.....

The meal vikingscaper had to be the MOST TERRIBLE thing that I ever concocted in the kitchen. This was a meal which went terribly awry in stages & I am still surprised it did not end with vs:hork:.

there is no wrath like college cafeteria food. this is the weird crap i've seen around...

peanut butter and banana panini (with chcoolate on top?)
cream of tomato (it ends up looking like orange puke)
some weird asian concoction with rice AND noodles on a plate, mixed together...

My dad used to eat peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Nothing wrong with that...

My mother still laughs about the time her mother made fried green tomatoes for her and her dad. For breakfast. And she didn't soak them in salt water first. (Soaking in salt water takes the bitter "green" taste out.) My grandmother had this odd habit of making more dinner-type foods for breakfast, anyway, but this one kind of took the cake, so to speak.

I think that this is more widespread than people would like to admit, but one of my favourite ways to cook salmon is in the dishwasher. Some herbs and citrus, YUMMY.
Beats driving around town w/ salmon steaks on the old V8.

licorice topping...sounds delightful. I have Finnish friends. 8)

I'm sure there are plenty of bizarre cooking ideas in both cookbooks: Foodscape I and II. :D

I have been looking everywhere for dentics! The people at the grocery stores are starting to look strangely at me...
