Just wanted to say: Happy Hundred Years of Flight!
Whats that silly saying: two wrongs don't make a right, but two Wrights make flight.

So, what I was wondering was what invention do you think has made the biggest impact on humanity?
I'll go with personal communications. Cell phones and PC's.

Maybe its in the spirit of the day, but I'm going to have to go with powered flight. It has opened the whole world and beyond to us erplings. Just look at how blase we are about hopping on a flight and going to other parts of the world. Not to mention the importance to business, trade, medical treatments people otherwise might not have access to, the military aspect, and of course, going to the moon! And that's just off the top of my head.
So, thanks Wright Brothers! Happy Centennial everyone!!

Oh, saw them try to do the recreation with the replica on the noon news. It cranked up, but didn't make it airborne. They are going to try again later. The weather here is horrible. Rain downpours and the winds are picking up. Kind of makes you appreciate the challenges the Wrights faced on that cold day 100 years ago. Hope they can get it up there!!!

I personally feel progress peaked with frozen pizza.

One “Die Hard” quote a day keeps the blahs away I say.:smokin:

The computer. It has changed the way we live in countless, fundamental ways.

I vote for powered flight (can't resist, I'm a pilot!), closely followed by the telephone. And both of them predated the computer by many decades, although computers are rapidly catching up in terms of impact IMO.

I couldn't help it, but as soon as I read the above part, my mind flashed to Randy Quaid in ID4 all drunk in the hanger at Area 51... :lol

Hey, the obvious here - it has to be flight - without flight, we wouldn't have Farscape!!!:D

My Dad's a pilot, I recently realize that without the advent of powered flight, my parents probably wouldn't have named me Amelia!

Though I often wondered why they'd name me after someone who managed to get herself terminally lost.
