Well, it teaches others not to numb body parts that should not be numbed (or at least in public). It's info that should, at some point, end up on a warning label.

Here's something I don't know, or at least I don't understand. One of my sister's coworkers went home last night with her 2 children, ages 4 & 7. When they pulled into the drive, they saw her husband lying next to his truck. He had blown his head off, knowing full well that they would find him when they got home. How on earth do you do something like that to your children?
Granted, someone's obviously not thinking right if they're suicidal anyway. But if you're determined to kill yourself, why do it where your family finds you? Now those kids will have to have therapy and who knows if even that will help. Of course, this guy was psycho anyway. He got mad a couple of weeks ago, and kicked his children's cat to death. Come to think of it, I'm surprised he didn't take his whole family with him with his mentality.
This is the fourth suicide in our town of 3,000 in the last year. Scary...
Nicola
01-23-2004, 10:59 AM
Suicide is the ultimate f*** you.
He wanted them to find him. He wanted to punish them 'cause he thinks they failed him.
trinamick
01-23-2004, 12:47 PM
While I agree that it's the ultimate selfish act, what would prompt someone to do that to their children? I can understand him trying to get back at his wife (she is the definition of evil), but why make your kids suffer? His kids worshipped the ground he walked on. People suck.
Nicola
01-23-2004, 01:03 PM
He kicked their cat to death. I bet he was more responsible for problems in that family than the wife.
And I wouldn't be surprised if he waited till he heard their car, before he pulled the trigger.
I am not saying he was sane, but he sure sounds vindictive.
trinamick
01-23-2004, 01:34 PM
Well, he had severe depression problems, but most of them started when he found out she had been cheating on him with several different people. She makes everyone's life miserable at work too. Of course, people who aren't happy at home take it out on everyone else. He had just gone into the doctor yesterday to get medication for depression. Apparently, he didn't think it would help.

Not always. Some people are just in so much pain, they can't see---or they do realize but are hurting so much it overwhelms them---that it will cause immense suffering for those left behind. They really, truly believe that their loved ones will be better off without them.

I would post something about all this but this topic is very touchy with me as I lost my best friend to a suicide and it still haunts me...It's hard to comprehend what goes through their minds to make that kind of decision....Sometimes they don't realize how it will affect those left behind...Sometimes they do it to hurt them...either way no one wins....Sometimes they feel they failed someone or at something....But all the time its those that are left behind are the ones who feel that they have failed to stop it...
My opinion....:cry2:

About a year and a half ago was a milestone anniversary of my grade schoold graduation class. They were putting together a big reunion. But to many circumstances, I couldn't attend.
Now, up until about 5 years prior to this point, I wouldn't have given that reunion a second thought. But, this time around, I was really bummed about missing it.
Had the chance to chat with a few via e-mails before and after the reunion. Also got the chance to see pics via internet of the reunion. Shortly after this event, I came up with this song. The lyrics are simple, but heartfelt.
THE PASSAGE OF TIME
(c) 2002 by *me*
The passage of time
The drinking of wine
The tears that we’ve shed
And lost in our sleep
Are the memories we keep
Locked up in our heads
Days have grown cold
We continue to grow
Older each day
There’s no other way
Then after awhile
We suddenly smile
There’s still so much to say
The passage of time
The drinking of wine
Remembering when
Our childen we feed
Then at nighttime we read
And then tuck in their beds
If only we could
Save all of the good
And the rest throw away
Maybe some day
We’ll be washed by the rain
There’ll be no more pain
No more shaking our heads
The passage of time
The drinking of wine
And all that’s been said
The passage of time
The drinking of wine
The tears that we’ve shed
The passage of time
The drinking of wine
And all that’s been said
The passage of time
And friends for all time
Remembering when

One more before I go....
This was written in late '85. Music by my good friend, Paul. Performed live by 3 Way Street on numerous occasions in the late 80's during their local gig circuit:
ORIENTAL JADE
(c) 1985 by *me* and Paul P.
In search of sentimental
In sunlight and the shade
Searching for my oriental jade
A certain ornamental
I cannot classify
Searching for the gem behind her eyes
The lines I cast away
The things I undergo
Tumble like a falling domino
A morning matinee
A reoccurring theme
Her face illuminates within my dreams
Oriental Jade
The prices that I paid
To find the jewel
Who’s standing right before me
Oriental Jade
Your sparkle never fades
You shine on me
The light I never knew
A distant destination
The wayward passing time
Casting out today what’s left behind
Searching for devotion
While my future’s being made
Searching for my oriental jade
Oriental Jade
The prices that I paid
To find the jewel
Who’s standing right before me
Oriental Jade
Your sparkle never fades
You shine on me
The light I never knew
... I’ll search for you
