There is already a region code 4 release, so if you have a code-free player and don't mind ordering from overseas, you can get the S3 box set from Australian DVD shops such as www.ezydvd.com.au (edit: seems they're right now out of stock though). I'm from Germany and got mine from there, too.

This is so strange! I was just thinking about the Season 3 box set today, and wondering when it was going to be released here in the USofA.
Now I'm on a mission. I will try to get an "American" answer as soon as possible!

I just got thru to my "connection" at ADV Films, and hope to have an "unofficial" answer very soon.
It's the same "connection" I used to find out about both seasons 1&2, and that was a pretty good source. So here's hope'n'!

I actually contacted ADV. The emailed me back saying that there were no current plans to release a 3rd and 4th season box set, but said if the season 2 box set sold as well as the first box set then he was sure the 3rd and 4th would come.

That just told me it was going to be too long, I ordered all five collections of season 3. Who's a happy camper!:D

Frankly, I think they do it (not to sound jaded) to make more money off of the individually released volumes. The box sets have to be selling well, from all the evidence we see. Too many people wait for the box sets rather than buying the volumes. I do.

But if they can make a bit more by selling the volumes to the more impatient or insecure among us who worry that the box set may come too far in the future, or not at all, then all the better. I would be willing to bet that come October, there will be a season 3 box set available, if not before. I mean, we got this answer clear through sometime in September about Season 2, didn't we?

I understand why they do it. It makes good business sense. The margin of profit on a box set is usually smaller. But, darn it, it's the principle of the thing as much as cost, with me. It still irks me slightly that the season 1 box and season 2 box don't have identical keep cases. And television shows should come in box sets. They just should. Period. The Best Of Season One box set came along right before it had been solidly proven that television box sets sold well. Generally better than "Best Of" collections. I love ADV for doing the sets, but jeepers, I wish they wouldn't be so darned coy about when things are being released.

i have to agree about the consistency of the sets. every other box set that i see is identical. i love my x-file sets. really professional. adv still rocks though!

FYI

I have S3 and the collections are packed full of features and ADV did a much better job than in these than S1 and S2. The menu for example is much better in every aspect.

Jaqui, All of season 3 is availiable, but to my knowledge they are separate DVD sets. I have not seen a "Boxed Set" availiable in the US. (and my "connection" hasn't been able to give me any concrete answers(aargh!)

Yeah, I knew it is all out on the seperate discs, but I'm anal. I have the first two box sets. I can't switch now! :lol

Well, they are not in a box set, but they are not individual episodes. They are packaged exactly like the S2 disc's except there is no box to hold them in. I really don't think you will be disappointed with the 5 collections. CB does commentary on "The Choice" and the next DVD has a CB "Behind the Scenes" interview with her. There are several more. I, obviously, cannot compare it to a S3 box set, but the S3 collections are much better than the S2 and 1 in the layout and special features. My guess is that if they do box S3 and 4 that they will just be a repackage of these. I have already ordered S4 collections 1 and 2 and collection 3 is on pre-order. I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but the Region 2 (UK) Season 3 box set, which was scheduled to be released in March, was cancelled.

I don't know if that will impact a Region 1 (US) release, since a different company does each region, but I was a tad disappointed, since I buy both Region 1 and Region 2 Farscape DVDs. One can never have too much Farscape, right?

Got this from a moderator on a Yahoo group for farscape:
I just got off the phone with my local comic shop, who informed me
that a Farscape Complete Season 3 Box Set is now solicited in the
June "Previews" distributor catalog, for shipping in August. I don't
remember for sure, but I think the price was $90 US / $120 CAN
dollars (or that was the wholesale price). I checked and ADVision
doesn't mention this on their web site yet. But Previews (typically)
don't lie. So this is now coming just 10 months after season 2 box
set. Woo hoo!

I just saw a post on one of the Farscape Live Journal communities that also says the boxed set is coming out in August. The person posting has the set pre-ordered from Suncoast. I checked the Suncoast web site, but they don't have the set listed there yet.

I too, have heard about the August release of the complete season 3. As of today, I cannot find any "real evidence" of a release date. I have feelers out to several DVD and Video retailers in my area, but have not heard of any firm dates.

I've checked Suncoast too, no listing yet.

Well, I did it! I just paid for, and confirmed my order for Farscape complete season 3 box set, from Suncoast. The advance order price was about $ 98.00. With my "replay" card,and another discount coupon, I was able to get it for $85.00.

It is due in, on or before the 24th of August

Deep Discount DVD (http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/) has it available for pre-order, priced at $89.99. They offer free shipping, and often have nice coupons. Typically, to use their coupons, though, you'll have to wait until it's released and then order while they've got it in stock.

Actually it wasn't cancelled. Just moved back. I wrote Contender UK an e-mail about it just after March date disappeared from their Release Schedule and here's what Ian Atkins (Product Manager) replied:

"With all the season boxed sets for Farscape, we've only proceeded (and
released a firm date) when we've got all the extra items we're pursuing
(commentaries, interviews, etc). With season three this is taking a lot
longer than we'd hoped, and so our provisional date has been moved back. The
March one shouldn't have been mentioned on websites but someone sent a
release schedule out early, and proceeded to get everyone's hopes up, for
which I can only apologise.

As soon as there's definite news it will be mentioned on our website and in
our newsletter. "

Amazon UK says September 13th for Season 3 DVD Boxset.

Hmmmm,...You guys got me a little worried now. I just confirmed my season 3 box set on Saturday.

Season 3 box set is due on August 24th 2004

I ordered it through Suncoast on the 15th of June, and confirmed my order on the 10th of July.

I've already paid for it, so I hope I haven't frelled up!

Probably next summer or something like this. ADV Films (USA) is gonna release Season 3 boxset this August, so I believe Season 4 will be next year and let's hope they will add some COMMENTARIES to it!

There's a nice little behind the scenes piece on the episode in the Farscape Season 3 Companion. So you could always get that.
