Peacekeeper Authorities announced an immediate ban today on the sale of "downer" Budong meat, or meat harvested from dead Budongs floating in space. A PK spokesperson said this ban stemmed from numerous reports of illnesses caused by the consumption of contaminated Budong.
Critics argue that this action comes too late for many in the Uncharted Territories, where Budong is considered a delicacy.
Activist John Crichton, a frequent critic of PK policy, stated,
"The Peacekeepers knew dead Budongs weren't safe to eat, but they let it go on, anyway. I, myself, have eaten Budong and look what it's done to me! I've bled without being injured, my dreams are now Looney Tunes cartoons, and when I sneeze I open up a wormhole. And don't ask me what happens when I go to the toilet, when I can find one!"
When asked about Crichton and other critics accusations that his administration had been slow to regulate Budong meat supplies, President Braca turned bright red and muttered something about Crichton's buttocks in tight pants.
An industry spokesperson responding to the ban said that this was going to put a lot of producers out of business and asked, "How the frell do you get meat out of a live Budong?"
