View Full Version : yet another boneheaded cancellation: Whose Line is it Anyway?

ABC has cancelled WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY.
this is the show where you heard:
If Sting retired, would he be Stung?..
You know, for as long as I can remember, I’ve had memories...
Assault me with a battery
Yes Captain, I'd like some booty
Don't cry...you're not that good an actor
Nine out of ten Americans believe that out of ten people, one person will always disagree with the other nine
I think bachelor number two wasn’t held enough as a child.
He had the kind of face only a mother could love. If that mother was blind in one eye, and had that sort of milky film over the other one, ya..ya know, ya know what I mean? But still he was my identical twin.
And if that isn't the truth, it would be a lie.
There's a teeny tiny struggling movement to save it, and more information if you're interested on my blog (url below).

I totally crack up every time I watch that show. It's hilarious. And it's a great fill-in show for the summer slots, the holiday rerun slots, and the "whoops, that last show bombed and was yanked after only 4 eps, what are we gonna put in it's place for the time being" slots.

oh yeah, and the line: 'give your hands a breast... I mean a rest.'

Why did they cancel it? It couldn't have cost that much to make, and as said before it was great for the summer and filler.

I think ABC is ticked off at Drew Carey because they were contractually obligated to pay him an enormous amount of money for his first show, The Drew Carey Show. This made sense when the show was popular, but it has steadily declined over the years. As a result, ABC is taking a bath on that one.
There are still some unaired episodes left from when they filmed a ton in anticipation of a writer's strike that never really happened. ABC Family is showing reruns, but I don't know if they can or will show first-run episodes.
I have yet to see an official announcement from ABC that the show is toast forever. There is a lot of fan talk about cancellation, but there's been nothing anywhere near as definitive as the notorious Bonnie Hammer Backstabbing we collectively experienced.

It just seems counter-intuitive that they would never air something they paid for. No?

The situation is very different from Farscape, of course. If I had a choice between Farscape coming back for a fifth season and Whose Line, there's no contest -- Farscape every time. But I do hope that ABC comes around on this one.

Are you kidding? I love that show.....They could...not that they would...replace Drew with someone else if the case was $$$ that they had to pay Drew. But all the stars on it were hilarious and I thought it was a good show to watch to take my mind off the outside world for a while...

I was a fan of the original Brittish version in College. Darn shame if they do cancel it, but what chance did it have? Every week it was on at a different time, and I've never seen it advertised. Frankly, since most of us here liked it, I'm surprised it lasted this long.

ah, yes. that was an episode to remember. For anybody who gets the Family Channel (http://abcfamily.go.com/home.html) they are showing two episodes tonight, at 10 and 10:30, Pacific time.
