What was the real reason John blew Katratzi up?
I think it was revenge for thier treatment of Aeryn I just wanted to know what you thought?

I think the main reason is that he was cornered and could not think of another way out. I think that combined with the belief that the scarrans are a threat to the universe, that he did owe scorpy a debt and this would be a less costly manner of payment made the decision less difficult than it might have been other wise. combine that with adrenalin surge and a teeni tiny urge for revenge and you have got a quaint old fashioned thermonuclear tea party.

He had a bomb and a target, he didn't want to carry it all the way home again.
It was because the Scarrans started chasing him. He probably would have left their flowers alone but they had to try and kill Johnny and Johnny doesn't like that. He didn't have to drop the nuke down the shaft but it certainly made things easier on the way out plus it got Scorpy off his back about that wormhole debt.
So basically all of the above.

I figured it was a little of all listed... But I thought of this poll after watching ABL... So I had to go with the Aeryn one.

He wanted to get rid of it cause its so dam heavy cause of the plutonium! Anyway, it got scorpy off his back and the Scarrens really pissed him off.... tortured him, his girlfriend... and then theres the whole, cant really do anything else thing... If hes gonna do, he might as well do it with a bang, a really big one :)

There were definitely multiple factors in the decision to blow Katratzi up, but I think it came down to John being cornered and the bomb being the only way out. I think revenge had less to do with it because John regrets having to use the bomb at the end of the episode (that "I blew up a nuclear bomb today. What will I do tomorrow?" part at the end).

I think there was no other way out for him. John doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who would set off a bomb like that for personal reasons or because he lost his temper. John didn't want to use the bomb and felt terrible about it later, but I think at the time he couldn't come up with any other way to escape.

See why would any one think he did it so he didn't have to give Scorpy Wormhole tech? I was right about that one!!!

John was not going to set off the bomb until they were cornered. The only reason he dropped it was because he couldn't think of another way out of their situation. It was either drop the bomb or be captured. And being captured meant death for his friends, torture for him until he gave them wormhole secrets. Then the whole universe is at the mercy of the Scarrens.
