Stupid Star Trek poll

Who was your Favorite Cpt.?

I like cheese, so I picked Kirk.

When confronted with the unknown, Kirk would shoot at it and ask Spock about it afterward, Picard would want to negotiate, Sisco would stare at it, and Janeway would run off and talk to Chakotay.

If I were dead and an army stood between my soul and a land of peace and this question had to be answered with only one choice in perfect honesty in order for me to proceed...

...I'd likely be standing there for a really really long time. It's basically a toss-up between Kirk, Sisko and Picard. They each represent different aspects and traits of personality that I find important, notable or admirable.

If forced to choose without being 100%, I'd probably go with Sisko. He just seems to be the least like a charicature between the main three. There's more to it than that, but I kinda refuse to give this anymore structured thought. =]

Hehe, who I feel bad for is ole Count Bakula - Archer can be incinerated for all I care. What a horrible miscasting that was. In the episode Twilight we got to see a glimpse of 'Captain Trip' and it was pretty damned cool - much better than Capt. Quantum™. Had Trip or someone very much like him been the captain since the beginning, that would have been a much better foundation to base the series on.

Oh well. Too many shouldda-woulddas. Time to work on the Farscape franchise, now. =]

Looks like Kirk and Picard are in the lead, but I had to go with Janeway, though she only beats out Picard by a hair. I don't know exactly why I choose her. We coffee drinkers need to stick together maybe. Voyager is my favorite of the Trek series and that is probably why I choose Janeway.

Sisco got Casidy thats the one he wanted he also got others.
Janeway got Tom, That guy from Fairhaven you know the HG and I don't remember te others.

I love the story about the making of that ep. They applied the green makeup, shot some scenes, sent the film for processing, they view it in post, and she's no longer green. They think "hmmm... maybe we need to make her greener."

The make her greener, they re-shoot the scenes, send the film back for processing, get it back, view it in post.... she's still not green. (???)

They do it again, this time making her as green as possible, reshoot ...............

Then they realize that the film company thought there was something wrong with the film, and were "correcting" her greenness in the film every time they processing the film. :rollin:

Okay...I had a really tough time between Picard and Sisco. Picard was the captain I watched during my more formative years, so I adore him. But Sisco...we got to see his journey towards becoming captain, which was very interesting, whereas Picard started out as captain, so there's less to work with there. Furthmore, Sisco, being a widower, and being stuck in one place in the middle of political strife seemed to have to face up to his own flaws on a level that Picard didn't. That made Sisco more real to me...I can relate better.

Who did I vote for? I'm really tired, so I don't remember, even though I just did this. For the purposes of this post, I'll say Sisco.

Not a fair comparison at this point. You won't be able to see the Janeway - green alien chick lesbian scenes until the Voyager season box sets with the deleted/edited scenes are released in a few months. ;)

avery brooks is an amazing actor.

william shatner did what he was supposed to in that role. i just saw him a few weeks ago walking around where i work. He still rules.

Another reason why I loved that Tim Allen movie, Galaxy Quest, I see you managed to lose your shirt... again.

Kirk- stupid, iritating, womaizer - yes that is a character FLAW
Pickard - if i could watch TNG for more than 20mins without changing channel in disgust (troi, wesley, riker - ugh!) i might be able to see his good points
Sisko - human, deep, great acting
Janeway - upstaged by most of her cast - if shes a good captain i dont care/didn't notice
Archer - Enterprise sucks

Looks like I found the one person who still watches Enterprise. Um, thats not really meant as a flame.


Well what about Capt. Sulu, Scott, Mccoy, Chekov (even though that was only pretend I liked it), Riker, Spock, Data, Crusher, ECH...Well come to think of it, you could put just about anyone on the list, but if I was to put my money on one it would heve to be...Picard.

I'm with ya on the voice, I love when he does narration on the Discovery Channel but I have to disagree about the acting. He has absolutely no range and he always has the "every breath I take stinks" expression even when he's suppose to be happy, which is rare due to his ADS (acting deficiency syndrome).

Poor Katherine ... only 8 people voted for her. She was an awesome Captain.

She not only got the crew home, she completed all of her mission parameters. And she managed to do something that the rest of the Federation combined couldn't. She got Starfleet and the Maquis to work together towards a common goal and she outwitted and conquered the Borg by destroying the unamatrix and shutting down the only 'conduit' the Borg had to the alpha quadrant without totaly destroying her ship.
