I just received seasons 1 & 2 on dvd and have lending them to my friends that have never seen it. So far I am getting them hooked on it but they have it easy until season 3 when my dvd's run out. Then they will have to wait for the tv or until I or they buy saesons 3 and 4. They get lucky not having to wait for a week for the next episode like we did at first.
Thanks to all or Farscape friends long timers and newbies alike.:aok:

i try to get my friends to watch it, god knows i talk about it, but its difficult to just get them to sit down and watch premier, once they have done this they want more, but I think sometimes they just think that they will not like it before they watch it

I could'nt get any of my friends to watch the show not for love or money as soon as I say SciFi they think Startrek and completely lose interest. I try to tell them its nothing like ST but they just wont bite. I'm desperate!

Go for the eye candy angle, [didn't even mention the word sci-fi] i did with my old crewmate the other night and at least she let me put the dvd on. Not sure that she is hooled yet but I am working on it.

This was months ago but when I got my two friends hooked on Farscape, one of them was actually mad at me for getting her hooked on a show that got canned during a cliff hanger. Thankfully the mini finally got me off a completely different kind of hook. :D

I think I finally got the hubby hooked. The man who is usually in bed by 10 stayed up till 1 watching Farscape. He almost thought about watching the next episode too.

Blah, I've tried so hard to get people into the show.... but it's so difficult! After years of trying, I've only met ONE other Farscape fan in real life, and only managed to convert two others.

You have to ease them in or trick them. Have a get together and have it playing as people start coming in. Or have movie night and put an episode in the player by mistake.

Lessons I have learned in getting people to watch Farscape -- these are, of course, my views and may not work for everyone, but they may be helpful.
Based on my experience:
Tell them about the cast. These are highly talented, intelligent and skilled people -- who just happen to be great looking too! Tell them how Ben Browder wrote two eps. Mention the three Saturn awards. Tell people about the rest of the team as well...tell about this being a Henson project, and how the henson family recently go their company back. They will be intrigued!
Don't call it science fiction unless you know the person is into the genre. Even then it is tricky. It's a drama, a comedy, a romance, an action series. Use what works.
Show the convertee what they want to see. If they are into action, start them off with an ep featuring one of John's "plans." If they like romantic stuff, show them the shippiness! If comedy is their thing, pick an ep that you think will make them laugh. If they like, well, earthier humor, there are a few eps (Coup by Clam and Out of Their Minds come to mind), give them what they want. They want intellect? Mind stimulation? The Ugly Truth is a great introduction to all the major players. Not sure? Show them Crackers Don't Matter!
Never compare Farscape to another show. People already have preconceived notions about the other show(s), and they will watch it making comparisons instead of just watching it "clean." Besides, what compares to Farscape? ;)
Do mention that the press thinks enough of Farscape to herald it's return on the crawl on CNN. CNN put that news there on their own -- not because we suddenly hit them with emails to tell them to. CNN thought the show was as newsworthy as war and weather and sports. Now THAT is good TV!
Finally...watch with them. Keep the comments at minimal, but be there. Your enthusiasm will be evident, and it's catching. They will be watching alone on their own soon enough!

I have successfully 'Scaped my three kids and the nanny. They all like the show a great deal. We have watched up to Thank God It's Friday...Again (which they didn't care for too much, they thought that Back And Back And Back To The Future was better, and I agree), and they want to watch more. They were very excited about my getting the complete Season I DVDs for Christmas.
I have also successfully 'Scaped my very bestest friend in the whole wide world, over New Year's. We sat and watched Premiere and I, E.T. She is interested in watching more.
I have found that I just keep talking about how great a show it is, and how clever the writing, and how good the actors, and how brilliant the set design, and how excellent the direction, and how absorbing a story it is.
Just keep talking. But don't try to trick people into watching, or you will leave a bad taste in their mouths, and they won't want to watch again. Just be honest about how good it is, and why.

I showed one episode (...Different Destinations) of Farscape to my best friend who's not into scifi at all. He generally hates "rubber faces" and anything he thinks is unrealistic. I believe that after the episode he was quite satisfied with what he had seen and even asked some questions about the series. So, consider him scaped - more or less...

Sometimes I offer to cut a deal: they let me show them 3 eps, and if they don't like the show after that then I'll shut the frell up and never bore them about it again.
Often they take the bait, watch the eps to shut me up, and then get hooked  .
never works over here, mention sci- or anything starting with far and they just give u the dirty evil look! but then again, i havent really tried.... shouldnt be too hard though once exams are done, im gonna hook atleast one guy!
