LOL What a dumbass. She should stay married. I feel REALLY bad for that guy. Poor dear boy living a dream, I am sure, and she tells the press it was a joke gone too far. Now I read that since she wasn't mentally or psyically incapacitated, she'll have to file for an actual divorce. Good.

Too Bad it was a "Joke".
If she HAD actually married a sweetheart from the home town, I would actually have seen that as a strong point in her favor. The only point in her favor. Can't sing, cheap looking child-woman... and as demonstrated here, absolutely without class!

Spears' Quickie Marriage Annulled
Jan 5, 4:04 PM EST
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Britney Spears' two-day-old marriage to a childhood friend was dissolved Monday shortly after the pop superstar filed for an annulment, claiming she didn't fully understand what she was doing when she got hitched on the spur of the moment.
Clark County Family Court Judge Lisa M. Brown signed the order at 12:24 p.m., said Las Vegas attorney David Chesnoff, who was cleaning up after a weekend frolic between Spears and Jason Allen Alexander.
"There is no marriage now," Chesnoff told The Associated Press. "Jason agreed to this completely. They've made a wise decision. I know they care about each other. They are friends."
It took the judge about two hours to act on the "complaint for annulment" filed in Family Court shortly after 10 a.m.
"Plaintiff Spears lacked understanding of her actions to the extent that she was incapable of agreeing to the marriage," the annulment petition said.
The 22-year-old pop star married Alexander — who hails from Spears' hometown of Kentwood, La. — about 5:30 a.m. Saturday at a Las Vegas wedding chapel. Alexander said he and Spears hatched the idea to get hitched early Saturday morning.
"It was just crazy, man," the 22-year-old told "Access Hollywood" in an interview at his home Monday morning. "And we were just looking at each other and said, 'Let's do something wild, crazy. Let's go get married, just for the hell of it.'"
According to the petition, "Before entering into the marriage the plaintiff and defendant did not know each other's likes and dislikes, each other's desires to have or not have children, and each other's desires as to state of residency. Upon learning of each other's desires, they are so incompatible that there was a want of understanding of each other's actions in entering into this marriage."
Spears' record label, Jive Records, released a statement to "Entertainment Tonight" saying that Spears and Alexander "took a joke too far."
Calls to Spears' representatives were not returned.
Spears and Alexander, a junior at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, La., traveled by limousine to the Little White Wedding Chapel on the Strip after a stop at the Ghostbar, a club in the Palms Casino Hotel. The chapel staff told the couple they couldn't get married without a license, so they were taken to get a license and driven back to the chapel, where they were married.
The bride wore a baseball cap and torn jeans down the aisle and was escorted by a Palms limousine driver, the source told the AP.
Employees at the chapel declined comment.
The singer released her fourth album, "In the Zone," in November. It debuted at the top of the album charts. She begins a concert tour March 2 in San Diego.

Aren't you all being a little rough on the girl? I don't know her, and just because the press says that she is this, or isn't that, or did this, or didn't that is really no reason to judge her character. She really is just a little girl who grew up too quickly, and still needs some good advice from those who care about her.

I don't drink pop, so her pepsi ads didn't effect me. I don't buy her CD's because I don't like that type of music. I don't care if she does/doesn't have fake boobs, it doesn't effect me one way or the other. She's pretty, but if she came and sat on my lap, I'd smile and give up my seat. If she thought that I was the sexiest thing she's ever seen, and wanted to be the much talked about Lady Loser, I would decline. Not because I think she's this or that, but rather because I don't permit myself to take advantage of someone who doesn't know any better. Can any of you imagine how jaded she must be? Think of all the stupid crap you did at her age. All of your boyfriends/girlfriends and the stupid frelling stuff that went along with those experiences. Now imagine if they were plastered all over everywhere as "news". I doubt many of you could stand such scrutiny.
As for what she did to get where she is, there are much worse singers out there. But even if a grant you the fact that she doesn't have talent (which I won't) that still doesn't take away from the fact that she had "it", and that's what was marketed. She is the product. The product was targeted toward a specific audience, and that audience bought the product, and they are extremely loyal to that product. I can't see how that makes her any less of a person, nor why she shouldn't be given the benefit of the doubt in all cases.
Now if some of you think she's a dolt, I don't have enough evidence one way or the other to address that fact. Again, all I can say is that she needs someone who can give her good advice straight up, because she appears to be lacking such a foudation.

I think she knows exactly what she's doing! Has she gone overboard? IMO, she certainly has.
The sad thing is that she gets media attention at all! She's talentless! It's a case of "the emperor's new clothes" except no one's told her yet.
As long as the media keep paying attention to her, she'll think she is of importance!

It's a case of "the emperor's new clothes" except no one's told her yet. I cannot disagree with you here. That is why I said she needs someone to give her good advice straight up. It very well might be too late for that, and she probably wouldn't listen to the advice if given, for she's probably been around too many yes men for too long.
As long as the media keep paying attention to her, she'll think she is of importance! I'll disagree here as well, in the respect that I believe it is those of the population who make her think she is of importance. If no one bought her CD's/posters/products the media hype would soon cease. But as long as people are willing to buy the product, there will be no shortage of hype about the product.
But how old is she, 20? I really don't know, but she's still got a lot of growing up to do. Now if no one tells her "no" then I fear she will become the next Michael Jackson/Madonna, and in a continuing quest for the spotlight become a freakshow. While this would be attention, it's not good attention. However, once they reach this point their psyche would probably not be able to seperate the two, and they would do more and more outrageous things to get more and more attention. This path leads to destruction.

I am not the type of person that judges people in a bad way but to me she brings it on herself. I have a daughter and she is not the type I would want her to see as a "role model"....My neice thinks she is the greatest person in the world and I think she has been starting to dress and act like her. LMFAO!!! Damnit... that was such an obviously good joke for this situation.. why didn't I think of it first!
About Britney - Where talent stops, sex appeal begins. She appeals to the LCD. Sex, superficial lyrics, standard pop music. It sells, it's a formula. You could substitute any number of good-looking people in place of Britney and they could, and most likely, would be just as sucessful. That's what the music industry does, they come up with something they know sells and copy it a million times over.
To quote Ayumi Hamasaki, "I like Britney Spears, she's fun to watch. But I have the sense she's not her own creation."
I just have a problem with her because she's been made into what she is. She's definately not an artist by any account. I think the fact that she was ever popular says something about our soceity.
If you're in for a read, I had a discussion/arguement over at my forum about Britney - http://www.ahsforum.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9405&perpage=20&highlight=britney%20spears&pagenumber=1

I agree...in a way it's not all her fault but she really needs to wake up and see some of the damage she is doing to herself. She is a beautiful woman. Maybe if she just admitted in the first place that she had the surgery and she wasn't a virgin then I may have a different opinion of her. Look at Pamela Lee. She is out in the open. Yes she is still trashy and can't really act but she is what she is and she doesn't hide herself. She never lied about herself.

I have 2 thoughts about this "wedding".
1. Doesn't she have a new album out or something. I don't really follow her music, so I'm not sure. But for many entertainers, any publicity is good publicity.
2. I'll bet her accountant sat her down and told her she needed a pre-nup agreement before she got married. So she got an annulment, not a divorce. She may hook up with this guy later.

Thanks for the link Ashley. I disagree with much of what you said for the reasons I've stated above. You are closer to her age than I am, and I think it does taint your vision slightly. I don't have any emotional ties to her one way or the other, but then again, I haven't had her shoved up my eema like you no doubtedly have througout your high school career.
Comparing Brit to Norah isn't fair to either. Neither could exist in the other's world. As for talent, each is gifted in unique ways, as I've stated before. I don't wish to engage in a "my dad's tougher than your dad" discussion, for there is no resolution. I just don't think that all the venom heading in her direction is necessary, or deserved.

You guys are not being fair to her. Yeah, I shouldn't feel sorry for someone so wealthy but its pretty clear the wedding was just a bit of fun. Its not a "publicity stunt" her promoters are livid. Plus, the whole lying about the virginity thing pleeese. Stick a microphone in some teen girls face and ask them that question. Very few will admit to not being one especially if they havn't told their parents. Its just not a fair question to ask in the first place. The boob thing too. They could be real. In my freshman year in College (18 folks) I was blessed by the boob fairy. Admittadly, shes not the greatest singer, but she's a pretty good performer - I've seen 10 year old girls immitate her dance moves, and there is energy to it.
