Cute picture! But I have a verrrry bad feeling about the upcoming movie...

How come? I heard an interview with Jim Davis on the Bob & Tom show (Those guys rock!) and he seemed really happy with what they were doing.

The only problem I see with the film is I don’t think Garfield lends himself very well to anything past a half hour mark. However after seeing who wrote it I think they might pull it off.

You have Bill Murray doing Garfield's voice, Breckin Meyer (from "Road Trip") as Jon Arbuckle and Jennifer Love Hewitt as Dr. Liz. Peter Hewitt is directing (he did “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey) and Joel Cohen wrote it (and he wrote “Toy Story” also – and I dug that flick) I wouldn't say I'm jumping for joy over this flick, but I'll go see it.

I had to add this -- check this out. Bill Murray performs the voice of Garfield for the film since Lorenzo Music -- who originally performed the voice -- died a few years ago. Now here’s something really cool! Murray succeeded Music as the voice of Garfield who succeeded Murray as the voice of Peter Venkman in the cartoon of “The Real Ghostbusters” – that’s too freakin’ wild!

I have to admit, I didn't know there was so many names attached to this movie. I just saw a couple of posters and thought: "Rocky and Bullwinkle".
I hope they can pull it off. I love Garfield.

Yeah -- Rocky and Bullwinkle just dropped the ball.

I love Garfield. Not a big fan of Jennifer Love Hewitt, but I can suffer through for Bill Murray.

I can't stand Jennifer Love Hewitt. I didn't like her all the way back when she was on Party of Five. Bill Murray is awesome, and so is Breckin Meyer.

I've heard this Garfield movie is going to be bad. I've heard it's going to be another one of those kids' stories originally that gets made into a grown-up movie. Sometimes I hate the world of entertainment.

The CGI Garfield looks creepy. Not quite "Cat in the Hat" creepy, but creepy.

It's weird that Billy Murray is the voice of Garfield, since the late Lorenzo Music, the original voice of Garfield, did the voice of Bill Murray's character in the cartoon version of Ghostbusters

Personally, I'd rather be where the cat is at this particular moment, than here at work. :D ;)

i'm looking forward to this movie...though from the comics i always thought jon arbuckle was in his early 30's and breckin meyer is definately younger than that. but i like him a lot and he's a good actor. and where's odie? you think they thought it was overkill to have odie? that and he never really did much...didnt talk...

He's been around forever. He was a teenager in that 3D Freddy movie. Gotta be at least thirty by now.

another thing...everytime i look at that picture, it's the way jennifer love hewitt's hand is with garfield's right paw (on the left side of the picture), but i always do a double take because i think garfield is holding a cigarette. her third finger is sticking just under his paw and it looked to me at first like garfield had a cigarette.

WHAT!? No Odie? Well, just forget it then! Can't have a Garfield movie without Odie!:pissed:

I saw a trailer with a dog, but it wasn't CGI. Or yellow. Or 90% tongue.

Then it's just not Odie! Sorry, I like dogs better and I've always liked Odie. I do like Garfield but if you're going to do a CGI Garfield movie, do it right!

Now now -- don't get your panties in a bunch -- The plot of the film revolves around Odie. Don't fret -- I'm sure Odie will look great.

Thanks, NN.:rollin: I just have little faith in Hollywood doing cartoon/comic based movies in CGI very well. I didn't have the slightest desire to see the Scooby Doo movie just from watching the previews.

Well, he does have that drugged-up serene look about him. Or is he just a well laid back kind of cat.

I also read somewhere that there was a worry that this movie won't be a big hit. I really hope they're wrong. I've always enjoyed the Garfield cartoon strips. I can't remember which UK newspaper it used to be in. It may have been the Evening Standard. Anyway, it's nice to know that Bill Murry will be doing the voice bit.

Bill Murry is one of my favorite actors. Ghost Busters, Scrooged and something about reliving the same day, over and over again, and I can't remember what it is. Was there an animal in the title? Anyways....

That is Odie in the trailer. http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/garfield/large.html

Odie will be a real dog in the movie. Only Garfield will be CGI.

Okay, I just had to check because I thought I had lost more brain cells.

Garfield is striped. He's a tabby cat. How come the CGI cat doesn't have tabby stripes????

And that's just sad about Odie. And wrong. Poor Odie. :(

ETA: Hmm. I guess he does have stripes, in the trailer. Must just be hard to see in the still pic. But I think it's a horribly BAD interpretation of Garfield. And the dog who plays Odie is a cute dog, but he's no Odie. They should've either done them both by CGI or both with real animals. :ppbb:

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels the same way.....

Here's where I got my information: http://www.movie-list.com/trailers.php?id=garfield

I don't like what I see. Odie is flat out wrong. Jon Arbuckle lives in a single story house with no staircase! Garfield is a cat! He's a lazy cat! He doesn't exercise! Why is he dancing? Why an adventure?

As for the plot, they claim Jon buys Odie. Wrong. In the strip, Odie belongs to Lyman.

Is Bonnie associated with this?

augh! Garfield looks like Gizmo and Odie looks like Toto! It's all so wrong wrong wrong! Bill Watterson wouldn't let this happen to Calvin & Hobbes.
