View Full Version : Help: What colour are my eyes?
Okay, this is a stupid question, I admit I should know this.
But I never really figured it out myself, and I'm trying to fill out a passport application and well, again to sound stupid, I don't want to put down the wrong answer only to end up getting grilled by authorities if I ever have to step foot in a country with crazy border policies (*cough USA cough*).
So, what colour would you say my eyes are?

ah, yes grasshopper, I would say blue as well, but...what does your birth certificate say? That will prolly be the final arbiter, unless it is out and out wrong...

Birth certificates in Canada don't have eye colour listed... Name, birthdate, birthplace, sex, issuing dates and stuff, and that's it.

I say 'blue' too.
This is weird cause I've pretty much gone with green all my life, I always figured I was closest to green.

When I first read the thread title, I thought it said what color are my elves.
So I was expecting one of those funky quizzes...
I vote blue too. My eyes have some brown in them just like yours. :D

Hey kire, you eyes look about the same as mine. I have some brownish color by my pupils but I always say that my eyes are green.

On my monitor, your eyes look green, definitely not blue. Or maybe it's just my eyes that see them that way? Hmmmm...

It'd be safe to go with hazel, since you have a little bit of green, blue, and brown :D

Hazel – definitely hazel.

I've always been confused about exactly what color 'hazel' is. That word seems to be used to describe so many different eye colors.

I would have then write down... blue/green. That is the color that my eyes are classifies... and my eyes are a similar color to yours.

Not hazel.. I have hazel eyes, they have much more brown and green in them and no blue.
I'd say mostly blue.

Turquoise? I've never seen natural turquoise eyes either. So I gather hazel is just the blending of eye colors and not really one color itself? No wonder I was confused.

I don't really know what to put down, so I think I'm just gonna go with green. Despite everyone saying 'blue', I still can't see any blue in my eyes ... heh.

Kire,
My eyes are similiar to yours. I've people stand right in front of me & argue that "they're green",, "no, they're blue" etc....., My color can change depending on what I'm wearing. I usually say hazel - the state lic. has never argued with me on that description.
Good luck!!

I'd go with gray or green. Your color looks a lot like mine and mine are gray.
Though my eyes can look more green or blue depending on what I'm wearing, I just stick with gray. If I've been crying they turn a really cool shade of turquoise but then my face gets all puffy and red so the overall look isn't too appealing. :)

Except I'd never call mine hazel, I once met someone who had truly hazel eyes (and AyuRocks is pretty close) and it looked quite amazing. I usually got with "Yeah, whatEVER. See if I care."
And I once met a guy with torquoise coloured eyes...dude, I would have married him right then and there, never mind his name, age or even gender. They were...stunning... :thud:

Nope. Hazel is actually just a blend. Doesn't have to be browns. It can also be blues and greens. :)
If you've got people arguing that they're one color or the other, then you're probably safe going for hazel.

Do they change?
Do people say your eyes differ under different conditions? My ex-almost (or was that almost-ex) swore my eyes were green if I was in good health/humor, browner when I was not. My grandad's eyes were blue-grey, but when he was dying they were just grey. So grey they were spooky.
I've heard that said of other folks with intermediate eye colors.
Enough of the side story.. if they do "change", I'd just hyphenate both those colors.

01-09-2004, 03:53 PM
my eyes change colors. From deep blue to a blue/green to almost grey depending on my mood or what I am wearing.

I liked those examples you posted, grinner. They were cool.
I have seen turquoise, a few times. First time I was sure she was wearing contacts... but she wasn't.
There is one blue I didn't see there, but I suspect it is even more rare (only seen it once)... dated a girl with eyes SO blue they were almost violet. Absolutely unreal. When she took her contacs out and they didn't change, I was mind boggled.

People have always said my eyes were brown. In reality, they are hazel, and depending on what I wear, they look green. But since they are very dark, there's no point in arguing with those who say any different.
