View Full Version : SciFi and Australia Don't Mix

Unfortunatly its true. The only SciFi show that has been given a real chance on Australian Free to air tv is Stargate, and we all know that turned out as a success. Tv stations need to stop churning all these horrible reality shows (theres soooo many and most are the same, like come on how many bachelors, bachelorettes, survivors.etc do you want???) and put on some good, thought provoking, entertaining and interesting tv shows. (Like Farscape)
As for buying DVD's, thats exactly the same. Firstly to get a scifi dvd box set you have to get it sent in specially, if they're available. For example, Stargate are releasing the 2nd series on box set on February 18, on tv were up to season six or seven and other parts of the world even further. All we need is a decent tv station with some smart people behind it. (Thank God For Stargate or i'd have to kill myself)
(By any chance is anyone here a multi-millionaire and want to start a new tv station??? , I can keep dreaming!)
Tell me what you think?

No reason to single out Australia, isn't it pretty much the same thing around the world?

I'm in Finland and we do get Scifi quite well. B5 was on a couple of years ago and all crusade episodes were also shown, Stargate is approaching it's 5th season on the langest TV channel. Farscape continues with season 2? in cable and star trek the original series also runs on cable...atm i even get the cable ;). DVDs' are easy to get from local stores but they are kinda expensive, and if they can't be found here then i'll just order them from Germany or England, i'll get them usually in 3 days.

yeah, the only scifi we get here in oz is stargate, occasionaly they put Farscape on, but the different days and different times! and star trek we get occasionally but it is on at midnight and then they still mix all of the series up, one week your watching voyager and next week its DS9! very pathetic, i guess the only way to go is for cable or satellite!

My friend in NSW told me yesterday that Farscape is back on the air there...not sure of times and networks.

dzelika, i have written to every tv station in australia, several times. I have even spoken to an executive at one of the stations. they all promise they are doing their best and will try to incorporate more scifi into their programming and say they believe that all genres should be showed on television and their station is trying to reach that goal......
