We're upgrading our computers at work and the tech services guys have a WALL of shiny, brand-new G5s.

I've got to say they LOOK fabulous! I just love the silver all-metal exterior and the Star Trek TOS-look grill on the front. The way the side swings open to a spacious interior with oodles of heat control for those lovely processors is divine. *drool*

But...

Has anyone here worked on one of these? Are they smoooooooooooooooooth and fast, or are there bugs to look out for?

*droooool*

I want one!!!!

I think the hardware is mostly fine. But if they are brand new, the have Panther OSX.3 on them and that can be a bit buggy.

Haven't worked on one yet, but our tech guy at work is pretty up to date on Mac news and we were just talking about Panther today.

i always loved Mac, especially in college. but it seemed after that too much stuff was only being released on PC, so i switched unwillingly. :(

although, i do have to say that one of the coolest games ever (but it seems dated now) was the "Marathon" series, that was PowerMac-native and to my knowledge never available on PC. i can remember many a night when i was supposed to be studying but instead i was in the computer lab into the wee hours fragging my friends! :)

lol ranger, buy a mac then buy a PC emulator like Virtual PC and you can run anything at all on your Mac. :D
