I've seen that one before (came via email). And to think I've been wasting the use of that cup-holder by putting CD's in it this whole time! :D

Well, I think it *not cool* for this person to be posting stuff like this. Bad person.

Well we were stupid enough to click on the link. :D
It actually knocked something off my desk by opening my CD drive. But thats okay, I enjoyed cleaning the soda up off my floor...really...

Really? It didn't do diddly squat at my workplace. I was being just a tad sarcastic with my post above.

Yeah, we did click the link. But how often do you expect to click on a link at FMD that makes your computer do things you didn't tell it to do?
I was in the middle of ripping one of my Farscape dvds to get clips for a video I'm making. Had to start over from the beginning.
Learned my lesson: Don't click on links from this forum until after everyone has posted on where it goes.

Is there anyone you trust here?

She's a newbie, so we can cut her some slack. But I hope she realizes now that while a bit humourous, it's also a bit malicious, and as such, she should post a warning in the future...
Now you'll excuse me as I go run a virus check and spybot...

:roflmao: Are you kidding? There be Scapers here! Everyone knows not to trust Scapers! We're devious!

Or only click on the links supplied by people here you trust.I don't know what clicking on the link does, 'cause I didn't do it, thanks to comments from the rest of you. And, yes, there are people here that I trust ;) .......but "spongebob" isn't one of them now (sorry, spongebob---like you care!). I'll read your posts, but won't "click" on any links.

Well, it didn't do anything to my computer.

I'm not complaining...that part of my carpet is actually clean now. Well, as clean as a full glass of Pepsi will get it. :)
Clicking on the link will open and close your CD rom drive.
Unfortunately if youre in the middle of burning something like BlackThorn was, its not all that funny.
Or say, if you have your computer on your desk and have a clipboard in front of it with a full glass of Pepsi in front of that...clicking that link just starts a very horrid domino effect. (Trying to catch the falling glass will get you soaked with Pepsi, but it was wash day, so its cool).
Did I mention I wasnt complaining? :D

Nope, that wasn't complaining. That was just being irritated. Now complaining is going on about how the disk drive won't read any disks now when it worked fine before this. But no, I won't complain about that just yet.
Still scanning.

Well I only have music CDs (no program discs) and they seem to be okay.
Granted I had to reboot my computer first cause the drive took my CD...wouldnt read it...and then refused to give it back, but I think I got that fixed now. :)
Did you try rebooting your computer Blackthorn?
BlackThorn
01-23-2004, 03:17 PM
Well, no idea what happened. All virus and spyware scans came up clean for me, yet the cd/dvd drive wouldn't read anything. It had been reading everything fine before I clicked the link. Rolling back to a previous system restore point fixed the problem. Only thing I can figure is that clicking on the link changed something. :dunno:
Finally got it working fine now.
Hope nothing similar happened to anyone else.

Yeah, I had tried rebooting earlier on. Didn't help then.
Edited to add - the drive was opening and closing fine. I could get my disks back. My computer just wouldn't register that anything was in there.

I came out clean as well, except for the usual tracking cookies. Still not a pleasant experience...
BTW, my cd/dvd works fine...
