View Full Version : Really random bubble-bath question

Why is it that after I get out of a bubble bath, I have really horrible pains in my lower joints? It feels like pins are jabbing through my knees, ankles, and toes. What's up with that, anyway?
Any ideas? I'm at a loss.

Are you propping your legs up on the edge of the tub and losing circulation? Personally, I've never had an experience like that.

I don't know because I never take bubble baths.:dunno:

Is this an issue you only have when taking bubble baths, or all baths?

You should try taking baths in Epsom Salt. That will make your muscles very loose.

Okay, no to the propping my legs up question. They stay nicely under water, except for the occasional knee.
I don't take regular baths, so I don't know. I suppose it could be the bubbles...I'll have to get back to you on that one.
And I have used Epsom Salts before. They're great, especially after you've fallen off of a horse and been dragged around by it for a few dozen yards. But it's not my muscles, I don't think. It's just my joints. The pain goes right through my knees and ankles and such. It goes away after a few minutes, and happens as soon as I stand up out of the water.
Thanks for all the feedback, though. I've asked my ma and she's got nothing.

Maybe it is just the warm/hot water. I know whenever I sit in my parents hot tub, I am always stiff afterwards even though I don't have any joint problems.

I wish I still had the 7 foot clawfoot tub. I don't fit in a regular tub... so nothing is really underwater. Maybe I need a hot tub or something.

Maybe it's the way you are laying in the tub- like it's pressing on something on your back so that when you stand up it hurts?

It could be cramping up in the muscles. Probably has nothing to do with bubbles or the absence thereof.

The doctor is in...
Hmmm... little pins and needles sticking into your lower joints...
Well Doctor Fruniums thinks it's only the additional blood flowing to those lower extremities when you stand up, just like when your foot falls asleep for staying in one place to long, and you try and stand up and get the yowzer!!!!! Then once the blood flow evens back out, the feeling should go away...
If you don't want this feeling to occur, get out of the bath sooner, yer tying up the room too long anyway... :D

Maybe your joints get too relaxed in the water....I have had that happen a few times.....When they get used to being "used" and then they are put in a situation where they can completely relax, and then you use them again, they may get sore from that.... who knows.....I am soaking my foot right now in salts as i slipped on the ice a little today....seems to help alot...

I bubble bath AND do the bath salts thing pretty often... when I'm reading a good book I can be in there for as long as eight hours (you don't even want to KNOW what gets pruny) except for a few pit stops for hard cider and the little chemists room.
Never had cramps... ever.
And I too had a seven footer tub once... then I could still have beer. There were some amazing soaks to be had!

Only problem with staying in the tub for hours is, then you have to heat the water back up.

Just drain a little of the cooling water out and flip the tap on super hot for a bit. Heats it right back up without going through much extra water.

ewww! :freak:
(to anyone in particular): ever noticed if you pass gas in a bath... it feels "funny" (like it's slowly making it's way to the water's surface, outside you)?
-this question added only b/c we're on the subject of bacon bubbles. :box:

ranger1, just because I don't take regular baths doesn't mean I don't shower!!! :P :D
Thanks for all the input, guys!
I do tend to stay in the tub probably longer than the adaquate time. I usually watch a movie or some episodes of whatever I've taped that week.
Have a great day today!
