Frelling unbelievable!!! CNN just broadcast the first pictures coming in live and this time I stayed up for them!! Smooth, sandy or loamy with some outcrops 10-20 m straight in front of the totally free egress ramp! It is just totally awesome to me that Opportunity's landing has gone even smoother than Spirit's. That baby transmitted every single step of the way, through the bouncing in its airbag, no delays, no nothing. And 5 hours later she's turned herself over, opened up all her petals and is sending us pictures "unlike anything anyone has ever seen before", to quote the scientists. Un-frelling-believable!!!

The soil pictures look alot like the soil pictures of spirit. The same muddy look.

Those are the drag marks from pulling the chutes in. It only looks similar in black and white. It's a totally different color than where Spirit is, greyish instead of red, and there are basically no rocks.
