YES, so I'm slow on the uptake. Yes, I just read the Oscar nominations tonight.

But, really, Big Fish did not get ANY major nominations? This totally sucks. I'm really happy that Return of the King got nominated for so many things - but I was really rooting for both movies, and I don't understand how Big Fish can get NOTHING while movies like The Black Pearl, and Cold Mountain get nominated for tons of stuff. They were both good movies in their own right, but I don't see them as outstanding. With Big Fish, I was so overwhelmed I just sat and watched all of the credits. Usually I can't wait to get out of the movie theater. But when I watched Big Fish, I was so stunned, I couldn't even get up at first.

Jeez. What's wrong with people?

Was it released in time to be eligible?

And I have to say that Big Fish somehow worked it's way into being one of my favorite movies of ALL time. Every once in a while it'll hit me how much I loved it, then whoever happens to be close will get an earful on why they'd better see it! :rollin:

Stunning, I'll agree with you on that. :D

If any of you haven't, go see Big Fish! :frontrow:

Yeah, it was released on December 25 in a few cities. It's up for best musical score, so it was an option for nominations - it just didn't get much recognition.

That stinks. Big Fish was a great movie.

I'll have to award it my own honorary Oscar.

Steve Buscemi 's in it. Steve Buscemi 's the Man.

Thats the Man as in "Dude, you're the Man!" not, "The Man is always trying to keep a brother down."

I haven't seen Big Fish, and this is reason enough not to get a nomination. Ok, that's very wrong.

There are many, in the industry, that do not like Tim Burton. This could be a reason. He did, in a great number of opinions, ruin Planet of the Apes (I liked it), and that Kevin Smith would have done a better job (probably true).

Remember Hollywood folks are a largely fickle bunch, they don't always go with what is truly better, rather what they want to see win. It's biased too, which is unavoidable.
