poor little John thread

I noticed that in season four John had to point a gun a people he loved on numeruos occasions and some of the time had to pull the triger... I just thought this was A) sad and B) indecative of how much he changed over the years... in AHR John would never have pointed a gun at dear old dad even if dear old dad was realy a mind reading ailen... also in season one he wouldn't have been able to shoot the bioloid Aeryn.

Most one season one, he didn't even own a pusle pistol, when he did have a weapon in his hands the tendency was for him to blow it up :lol
But seriously, I guess it would not have occured to him, early in his adventures, that he would need to be shooting people, "you people have got to pointing guns at people" and as you state, later on he is usually the one pointing the gun.

He did go through some major changes. He isn't the nice, friendly guy he used to be in season one. He's become hardened and mistrusting of everything and everyone because of the things he's been through. Whereas before he would try to keep the peace between crew members, help out the new people he'd met, and try to find the peaceful, nonviolent solution, now he would just as soon shoot first and ask questions later. Kind of sad.

I think it is very realistic that they made him that way. John is not some perfect figure that can shrug off everything that happens to him...it affects and changes him. What had to go through is something beyond the imagination fo most people...torture, battle, war, and loss. To couple with all these trauamatic events he has to deal with all of them away from home in a constant sense of having to run away from something. I dont think there is any point in the series where someone isnt hunting John. If you had to your life constantly looking over your shoulder i think you would understand how john is feeling.

I think in addition to John hardening (still a softie on the inside), he's now a lot more knowledgable of the UT's and things that can happen there. So in Season 1 he might not pull a gun on someone like his Dad or Aeryn because he didn't even know such things could be possible like mind reading aliens or Bioloids.
