Discount!! Big Frelling Scaper Discount!! Discount!!
Get 'em while you're hot!! You are hot, aren't you? Or, rather, your work is??
You say it could be hotter?
Well, here's the place to turn up the heat, with a gen-you-wine Scaper discount.
I'm talking about the opportunity to get your writing work critiqued by qualified professionals during the LA Writers Conference next month. It's a service available for an additional $50.
Getting a good crit before you expose yourself to the commercial writing and publishing world is worth several miles of bad road and buckets of sweat and tears avoided. You never get that damn second chance to make a first impression. Trust me on this point.
If you write, or if you want to write but have been afraid of failing, this is a good chance to learn to do it right. One of our faculty, Nebula Award-winner Sheila Finch, has a tremendously efficient way to groove with the fundamentals of good writing and skip wasted time, electrons and dead trees (not to mention rejection's lips, and rejection slips, too).
For more details on the offerings, schedules and means of registration, please have a look at the conference website, <<www.lawritersconf.org>>
The Scaper registration page is reached from the main registration page, and will save you $40 in perfectly good US simoleans (which pays for most of a crit). Just make sure you know the name of our favorite leviathan when you turn up at The Manhattan Beach Marriot to claim your registration materials!!
Wil Wheaton has had a very real and describable "For Love AND Money" experience in his own work. Friday afternoon, March 19th, Wil will be with us to describe how blogging changed his writing skills and led him to his present success as a beginning author. There will be a Q & A session with Wil. He will also be doing book signing on Sunday the 21st (more details as they become available).
Saturday morning, bright and early, Rockne S. O'Bannon will lead a workshop on what he calls "The Fascination Factor," how to use the very first page (if not the very first paragraph) to switch on the Suspense Engine and generate that electromagnetic attraction that hooks readers and viewers right from the start.
Rockne is very approachable on the subject of writing. It's hard to imagine a better chance to get tips and advice from a real master of the craft.
I hope to see a good healthy Scaper contingent at the LA Writers Conference.
Our most sincere thanks to Red, WG and Jul for the headline story and banner space on the site's home page. Thank you, thank you, thank you again.
