X-MEN 2 screenwriting duo Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty have been hired to adapt Orson Scott Card's science fiction novel ENDER'S GAME into a feature film. Harris and Dougherty are adapting the novel for director Wolfgang Petersen who remains attached to the property at Warner Bros.

Peterson was first announced as a director for ENDER'S GAME in May 2002. As he wraps up his work on his next film, TROY, he may make ENDER'S GAME his next project, or he may go back to SUPERMAN VS. BATMAN or a new project, SHUTTER ISLAND, by MYSTIC RIVER author Dennis Lahane.

Harris and Dougherty may script the third X-MEN film but that won't be until after they complete an assignment for Marvel Comics (with X-director Bryan Singer) and until their script for ENDER'S GAME is done.

The project is one close to the heart of one of the writers. "My parents gave me the book when I was a kid, and it is the reason I fell in love with science fiction and is somewhat responsible for what I am doing for a career," said Dan Harris to Variety.

This is a good thing. I think X2 was better than the first X-Men movie, so I think they may do a good job.

Awesome! My second favourite scifi next to Starship Troopers. I only hope that the movie isn't as bad as Starship Troopers was.

Fantastic book. The sequals and the next trilogy about Bean couldn't compare to this one, but the first effort is incredible.

I liked both the Starship Troopers and the book, but they are completely different animals. Heinlein's "Have Spacesuit, will travel" is also being adapted.

Sorry to all who "love" Orson Scott Card, I hated Ender's Game and the thought of it being in a movie ... :scare: :hork:

No worries Selena. Not your cup o' tea. That's what makes this board so great. How boring would the world be if everyone liked the same things and had the same opinions. Now that would be :hork: inducing.

In the right hands, the special effects footage of the training scenes could be fantastic!

Yeah, but don't you have a thing for Cliff Richard? I think that's enough said! :D

Orson Scott Card has been talking about this forever. He's really concerned about the casting - they have to find alot of young boys who can act. I'm glad they are finally doing it. I had my doubts.

I loved Ender's Game. It's my second-favorite book by Card, who's one of my favorite authors. (I HIGHLY recommend Songmaster--it's my fav!)

It's hard to translate books onto the big screen. I hope they can do a good job.

This is definately one of my favourite books, I've re-read it countless times, it's one of those books from my early-teens that I can re-read in a day and love every second of it.

All I have to say about the movie is, GOD I HOPE THEY GET IT RIGHT.
