Despite longstanding Peacekeeper rules against alien contamination, over 100 Luxan-Sebacean weddings were performed today on Hyneria. Said one Hynerian official, "We do not recognize Peacekeeper authority here, so we have no problem with blessing such mixed unions. We just don't understand why nobody wants to marry one of US!"
Peacekeeper law currently requires that all mating on the part of Sebaceans be conducted with fellow Sebaceans and only for authorized reproductive purposes. Exceptions have been made for what PK High Command refers to as "recreating." Violations of the law generally result in sentences including a painful death, a quick death, an unusual death, or a silly death.
"We do not permit interspecies unions because it weakens us," said a spokesperson for President Braca. "We fight much better if our family tree has no branches."
Asked why she was willing to wed a Luxan in spite of such harsh condemnation from PK High Command, a female Sebacean who requested she remain anonymous said, "One word- tentacles!"
The refreshments at the weddings including standard Luxan and Sebacean fare. The salads were passable and the meats suitably spicy. The desserts were quite excellent and involved copious amounts of chocolate, resulting in a riot among the attending Hynerians.
