hey guys, just joined
have to admit that, being the first 3 parter of the series, made for awesome TV. Probably helps that i'm a complete sucker for the aeryn-john angle. Not to mention wild scenes of john escaping from near death several times. God browder and black rule.

nice to be part of a great fan group like farscape
in all honesty it really eclipses all other sci-fi I've ever seen, even B5, which is something i never thought would happen

I just saw these on TV this week (love my new dish) they are pretty good eps I love the sets and the scenery in them but thats not what stood out for me this time through. My GOD though what was wrong with Braca in the transport pod. Man I rag on the Scarrans all the time for being tactically stupid but it looks like there’s finally a contender for their title.
In short he gets put on the gift ship by Scorpy to capture Chrichton but doesn't think to bring a means of restraining him following capture nor does he knock him out or otherwise incapacitate him. Not only does he not restrain him in any way shape or form but he also lets him sit at a console where he can access ships systems freely. When the inevitable happens he does nothing but freak out and doesn't even attempt to incapacitate Crichton with say a pistol whip or some of that training soldiers get and IASA scientists don't. He ends up bailing alone after Crichton gets his gun away from him and thus spectacularly fails his simple mission.
I'll definitely remember to bring this up next time anyone even suggests to me that Braca is a competent soldier let alone the most competent peacekeeper.
He must have lied big time to Scorpius later about what really happened in there.

I do think that Braca had room to chakllenge Scorpius' authority in later episodes had they occured. He is no different than Tarkin from the original Star Wars. I think he was just over confident.

I just saw these three today (all praise to Netflix until my own DVDs arrive) and really enjoyed. Yep, also a sucker for the John/Aeryn angle, which bookends a rather complicated plot. I'm going to need to watch again because I found myself getting a little confused during the second part. I got the gist, but I want more than the gist. And the scene with John going wild to escape Braca...I read a review that termed it as "acting" mad, but it seemed more than that (and not for the first time this season). Plus the strangeness of him not killing Scorpius. Maybe it's good that I don't have the DVDs yet because I'd surely finish out the season tonight if I did!
The scenes where John saw his possible children with Katralla and then his real future daughter...heartbreaking. Though, of course, it all worked out well for the good guys, as he said. And the compatibility test at the end made me all sniffly on two levels -- both Aeryn reaching out to him and showing her feelings, and the fact that he's just had to walk away from a child but can now maybe find some spark of hope in the fact that they're genetically compatible. I think it was earlier in the three-parter where he talks about how important hope is (or it may have been an ep right before these three...I've watched about seven in the last two days!), and the compatibility test seems to be a way to reawaken hope between the two of them...beautifully done. Oh, and I *loved* the scene with Zhaan's singing echoing through Moya and the scenes where Moya spoke.

*bwah* I knew I missed things on the first pass so I'm watching again -- and just fell over laughing when John, directing Braca's gun to different areas of his body, presses it to his palm and yells, "My sex life! Kill my sex life!" I think I was so distracted by his Vienna Boys' Choir comment that I totally didn't hear that one :rollin:

It just gets better. When you get through all of the season you'll want to rewatch it to see every thing you missed. I think it is my favorite season.

Yeah, Season Two was great. I really like all four, and I have to admit Season Two is tied with Four for second place, though, but I think Two had a great, great, GREAT deal of character development, and really, truly STARTED what Farscape becomes.

Yep, that's right! I'm just through this three-parter, and hoping Netflix brings me more tomorrow (but I've already broken down and ordered every DVD available, so soon I won't have to go at Netflix's pace ;)) I will definitely be rewatching a lot once I a) get my own DVDs and b) have finished this first pass at breakneck speed.
ETA: I'll have to start an "Out of Their Minds" thread later because that's another of my weekend Netflix stash that I rewatched last night! So, so good!

There are only a few eps I haven't seen yet tword the end on season 3 and start of 4. We missed our Fridays, so now we just do them our selves. We have a fun dinner and sit down and watch 3 or so eps. We started at the begining and we are now up to The Choise in season 3. I figure when we reach the end we'll just start over.

My first Farscape eps, LATP began it for me. And yes, ptl for Netflix because they caught me up as I watched Season 3! Of course now I own all that are released by ADV - can't wait until May 18th because I haven't seen the last 8 eps!!!!!!

I thought the highlight of the arc was when John saw his future child that he would never meet.

LATP has one of my ever favorite FS moments: Crichton's "hope" speech to D'Argo. Only FS can go from moving to hilarious and back to moving in a space of seconds.
And of course the scene with Braca is priceless.
My SO's favorite line is from LATPII: D'Argo's good and bad news comment to Crichton. In fact, every time I watch this ep if he is in the room, I am obligated to rewind and repeat ;)

Chasa - you are in for such a treat! I get so excited when someone hasn't seen it all yet. I relive the eps with them. As you've already figured out, it just keeps getting more dense and more complex, and the relationships keep taking on more levels, and the stakes keep getting raised. There are hints of things in LATP that will continue to play out in the coming eps and seasons. I envy you...I would love to be able to see it again for the first time. And if you are really into the John/Aeryn plot arc, you'll really go crazy at the end of Season 2.
And all good things to Netflix! I'm now waiting on the first installment of the original Avengers and the first installment of Secret Agent. Hoo-hah!

It doesn't hurt this episode o have that hot PK agent either. I always forget her name. Miss Junior Tough Girl has her in her banner.
Yeah, that was a plus. I wonder if they were compatible or not.

Look at the princess is without a doubt my favorite arc. I love it, from the first moment in the farscape ship where Aeryn and John kiss ( hormones, hormones ) and he pushes her to the wall.. mmmmmmmmm (composes herself ) to all the humor, oh come on, who didnt laugh at the pose Crichton got as a bronze statue? lol
the little kids were adorable, and the look on Johns face absolutly priceless.
Aeryn was great. When pretty boy lays squeeling on the ground whimpering "dont leave me" she just had to show her colors and go "DON'T TEMPT ME"..
:D

The best part, for me, is definately on the ship when Braca's running around frantically and John's acting crazy, "OH NO MAAAAN, WE'RE SO SCREEEEEEEWED"

That's Jenavia Chatto played by the lovely Bianca Cimino. She's also one of the main characters of a Farscape spinoff fanfic I'm writing.
It's a pity we only got the chance to see her in that one arc as I think she would have made an excellent recurring character.
Still, as others have said, "The Princess Trilogy" was very well done and set a lot of plot threads into motion.

I really enjoyed these eps. They really kept me emotionally off balance. One minute I was really depressed for Crichton, next thing I found myself giggling like crazy. Good stuff all around.
Especially enjoyed John seeing his potential son, then meeting his daughter; Aeryn's denial about her feeling for John; all the John/D'Argo moments. Besides the John/Aeryn lovefest, my other favorite relationship is John/D'Argo. It's so wonderful to see how they've become so close and are each others crutch. I nearly teared up when D'Argo told him he'd support him in whatever decision he made. Loved when John asked him to be his best man, and D'Argo told him he was with Chiana now. Great moment. I'm really looking forward to seeing what becomes of them.
Also loved the Zhaan/Moya moments, especially the singing.

I just watched these for a second time today. In fact just finished about 10 minutes ago.
This was more or less where I came back into the show after a long absence - and discovered what I'd been missing. ;)
They really are three very good eps, Farscape does multiple episode arcs much better than most shows. It's also interseting to note all the hints that are dropped about various things that become major parts of the Season 2 storyline.
Favourite moments: It should be no surprise from my banner and avatar that my favourite bit is Braca on the ship, although special mention for John's Aliens rip-off "We're gonna die man!" etc (the lines so...memorably spoken by Bill Paxton in that film). I also love the two bits with his furute children and Aeryn's downright...cannyness throughout the arc. The little smile at the end is also really sweet.

'Look at The Princess' parts 1-3 made Farscape appointment television for me and I couldn't wait until it came out on DVD.
I always hoped that there would be a return trip to the Breakaway Colonies especially as the Scarran/PK rush to war built up in season 4. It would also have been cool to bring that PK Operative Jenavia (sp?) back to stir things up.

Ditto. The first season was more of setting the basis, the second is how is all that basis chemistry going to move foreward.

Season 1 and part of season 2 looked different than the rest of Farscape but I like that it shows how things changed. John was wearing the astronaut suit (which I wish he were on some occasions in later seasons) but I think the suit kinda showed he was out of place when he started dressing differently is when he was finally getting more comfortable and partially losing hope in getting home.

Actually TPTB used Crichtons IASA uniform as a way to show how he was being stripped of his idealism. His IASA uniform become steadily more tattered as Season One wears on. In fact the last time he wears that uniform was in Jeremiah Crichton when he had that temper tantrum and went out to sulk in Farscape One outside Moya. He got more sulking time than he expected... and by the time the rest of the crew had caught up to him he had come to terms with the idea that he wasn't getting home anytime soon, and he couldn't blame them for that.
He wears his IASA flight suit (different from his uniform) in A Human Reaction and after that he wears either generic stuff or (finally and most happily) PK leathers. But I like the way the disintigration of his uniform mirrored the disintegration of his idealism.
And the last time we see his IASA flight suit is when Neanderthal Crichton wears it in "My Three Crichtons". Very nice symbolism there. (Not to mention Future Crichton wearing PK Science Officer uniform. ) Multi-level storytelling. Gotta love it!
edited to add: John does wear his IASA uniform when he is talking to Scorpy Clone in his mind on the dock at the end of Season 2/beginning of Season 3. I think mostly to show that fundamentally he is the same person - just the naive idealism is gone.

You are right. I forgot. Although I am trying to keep it straight between what takes place in John's head, what is an unrealised reality, and the accepted timeline of the show. (Although with this show.... anything can change.)
