View Full Version : NEW- Some "Farscape" miniseries info...

This was shown at Dark Horizons. I tried e-mailing the "Save Farscape" site with this, but there are two reasons why I didn't submit it:
1. The thought that someone may have already sent in the news.
2. The contact site wouldn't load, there for no e-mail address to send to.
Needless to say, here's the link. Sorry if this has been posted before: http://filming.fto.nsw.gov.au/content.asp?content=7&Id=76
Scroll down until you reach the section that says "telemovies", it's the second listing.

It should be mentioned to all those not able to get the link to work that the info from it (mentioned in the above post) is from the Production Update page of the New South Wales Film and Television Office. Short of an official announcement of the mini from Henson this is about the most rock solid info/proof of it so far.

Is it to much to hope for that there was a data entry error, and that they meant 20 x 2 hour?

No, but I like the fact that they wrap up next month. Means we are that much closer to new Farscape!

Very cool to get any info
It wraps shooting in March, I wonder how long post production will take...

Those things are always so variable by company and whatnot... but.. I believe the last episode of Farscape from last year was done in... December right? So it'd be a couple of months I guess?

But you guys forget that it's a couple of months before post-production is done. Who knows how long it will be before they find a distributor.
So, in my mind, I don't care how long post-production is, because that's not the time eater.

Actually, I think that Disney purchasing Henson is good news more than the one I passed on here. :)

I REALLY wish we'd hear something official. I know, totally unnecesary to say so, but sheesh.

Disney didn't buy Henson. They are buying the Muppets. Henson will remain it's own entity and will fully retain the ownership of Farscape and the Creature Shop. The purchase will likely have little to no effect on how much faster we see any new Farscape stuff.

I would hate to see Farscape in the hands of Disney.
They should remain seperate.
On a side note, I added more stuff to my signature. Check it out, Foo!

As Frost says Disney has *only* bought rights to the muppets and Bear in the big blue house and Hensons have negotiated consultancy rights for the first 4 years I think on them both with disney. They will own all the movies and back catalogue of the muppets and BITBBH.
Farscape,Fraggle rock, the Dark Crystal and other franchises along with the creature shop will stay untouched and in the hands of Hensons.
I see this as a really good thing because it gives a healthy injection of cash (I'd hope!) into Hensons as a company and they have negotiated to keep consultation on the muppets as a franchise so haven't cut and run. :)

I'm still a little nervous though. Disney has had a long history of frelling people.
ex. Lady & The Tramp, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Atlantis, and not to mention mutilating stories that they did get the rights to produce..

DK does seem to like to leave us hanging... in a sort of psychopathic sadistic way...
But yeah! Good news, we know it's filming and we know roughly what to expect.

There wear so many things in the contract that Disney was supposed to do to be allowed to used WB characters. Such as Mikey and Bugs Most have the exact same screen time and lines. the same with Donald and Daffy. These they pulled off, but there was a problem with the Roger Rabbit shorts.
Tummy Touble was suppused to Go infront of Dick Tracy, but it whent with Honey, I shrunk the Kids. This violated the contract, and so the sequel which was in the contract was never made. The story line was about Bugs being Roger's father, but Eisner screwed WB, and we don't get it.

One of the more not-so-obvious benefits of the Muppets-Disney deal is Disney owns Touchstone Pictures ("Sixth Sense"). Because of the deal, it might make things easier for a Farscape movie to be produced.

No No indeed, the purchase by Disney was henson muppets- Kermit, Miss Piggy et al and the Bear in the Blue House. It did NOT include Sesame Street nor Farscape.
Rest easy
On the other hand if the NBC/Univ(Vivendi) deal goes thru(still in the hands of Federal Trade Commission) Universal studios will be part of the package(Farscape movie anyone?) as well as the theme parks(wormhole ride ,anyone?)

Sorry. Never the less, a purchase is good. :) That means more money for "Farscape" and none for Sci-Fi (we can only hope).

so, do we even have a speculation as to when the mini is going to air?

They need to finish filming (March 12 I think it was) do post production (a couple months) and line up a distributor. The earliest I think we would see it would be near the end of this year.

Disney or Universal owning the rights to this is not a bad thing. Not only that but doesn't Universal own NBC or vice versa? A place for the Mini. Not only that Bravo is also controlled by the same company.

Yeah but with Farscape on NBC we have to deal with all of the new FCC regulations.

Not if it is shown on Bravo. Cable channels, since they are not broadcast over airwaves controlled by the FCC, are not subject to the same limits.
And I can't remember the last time I heard any foul language on Farscape; especially not as compared to on Friends, or Scrubs - both on NBC primetime "family hour".
I don't think the FCC knows what the frell "frell" means. You can't jail someone for using invented replacement curse words.

Correct. They are censored but they play a little bit more than local stations can.

FCC is pertistioning congress to let them regulate pay channels. I know it's not right, but they are trying. And we all know, ever since the first time we heard it, what frell is supposed to mean.
disney are dying if u read the news...

The FCC can't even figure out British slang ( such as on Absolutely Fabulous on BBC America )
Edina: "Bugger, Bugger, Buggery Bollocks!"
If they can't figure out jargon across the ocean, then pan-galactic jargon ( with or without a gargle blaster ) is safe.
