I wish I had taped all of S4 so I don't have to wait for the release of the remaining dvds. I was wondering did Aeryn find out about John using the lakka(sp)? I was watching I Shrink Therefore I am last night and I noticed that his use of the drug bothered me a helluva lot more than the first time around. Did anyone have that reaction to him using in order to forget Aeryn?

Thanks! I hope those eppys will be on the next round of S4 dvds which I think will be released on March 23rd according to Amazon.
Also, I'm glad I'm not alone in being really disturbed by his drug use. :eek3:

I think I've seen some of those episodes more than once since they aired, but it was only recently that it hit me that he was hitting that dren way too much and too hard not to be hooked. I guess we were in major denial. LOL.

I had a really, really, really disturbing dream that my daughter & her best friend were hooked on some drug they were sniffing (not at ALL true), that I think was triggered by those Farscape eps! So, yes, I think you can say it bothered me, too.

I think having known people that abused coke at one time or another and his snorting that crap hit a little too close to home.

(no i'm not in favour of drugs) BUT I liked how it was written in that Crichton used the lakka... I think it showed just how hard emotionally he'd been hit by his relationship with Aeryn. He was desperate.. he needed something to block Aeryn from his mind and he found a temporary relief in the drug.

Yeah, I found Crichton's sniffing the stuff to be disturbing but it all comes out why he is at the end of "Twice Shy". You get an inkling of it in "Unrealized Realities" when he tells D'Argo that his taking the drug is more complicated than just trying to forget Aeryn. Then in "Twice Shy" he tells Aeryn that Scorpius must never find out that he still cares for Aeryn because that is the key to his wormhole technology in his head. He was taking the drug to prevent Scorpius from knowing he still cared so deeply for Aeryn in case Scorpius tried a new tack on getting Crichton to spill the wormhole technology by harming Aeryn. Remember when he says to Aeryn at the end when he gets Pilot to turn off the comms for a check so he can speak freely to Aeryn, "The Aurora Chair, Neural clones, threatening Earth, none of it works. It's you. You're my Achilles Heel." (Or something to that effect.) So in a way, Crichton was doing the only thing he could think of to protect Aeryn by taking this drug to "forget" her. Does that help, seeing it from that angle?

Good point attitude. I got the impression that that was part of his driving force behind the Lakka as well. However, I was never really worried. Crichton has braved and survived terrors unimaginable. I was confident he could overcome the possibility of addiction (mental or physical) to the lakka.

Yeah, that was his explanation for using the lakka, but I just don't entirely buy it. It just seemed a little too tacked on.
We see that J&A are able to be themselves in MAA because they're off comm's when Pilot is relaying messages to them from D'argo and Chi. So if it was so easy for them to be off comm's on Moya and thus away from Scorpy's ears, they could've done the same thing on Earth. John could've clued Aeryn in on his suspicions, especially after Sikozu went back to Moya. He didn't have to continue to freeze her out if he could've easily been off comm's like they've apparently done on Moya in MAA.

Just watched Twice Shy last night. Man am I being blown away by this show (Farscape as a whole)! Anyway I think that John was not fully aware of the Scorpy angle until he was put in the position of having to explain himself to Aeryn. I think he was about to make something up when the danger posed by Scorpy knowing about him and Aeryn hit him. I think it was there all along subconsciously and he had an epiphany just then that made things clear for him. But having said that I don't think Scorpy was the only reason for him taking the drug, and not the reason he started in the first place. Going to be watching the next 4 episodes after Twice Shy tonight, the box set just arrived in the mail today. Have to wait till July 13th before the final 4 episodes are released here in the U.S. Will give me time to go back over my favorite episodes at least.
