Yup it's true, I'm mad about smoking.
I quit 3 weeks ago and my mind is going crazy.
I dare someone else to quit.

I'd take you up on your offer, but I'd have to start smoking to be able to quit. Now as with any bad habit, I'd first have to develop such an addiction, which would take me several weeks, then I'd have to stop the habit. I don't have the time right now, but I will keep your offer in mind... :smokin:

How's about starting a "Let's stop smoking thread." and a bunch of you can quit together!
Back in my university days I used to second hand smoke 3 packs a day. But then when I moved to Calgary, I stopped haning out with my chums at that bar (something to do with it being 200 miles away ;) )

Good luck, Third EYe. I've smoked a pipe off and on but never got hooked (once a week for a couple of years, down to a couple of times a year now). Nicotine is one amazing drug.
Consider the patch or the gum... they do help some., not much, but some. I'm basing this on studies.
The meds to stop are serious drugs, though. Psychotropic drugs to quite another is pretty extreme. I don't think I'd consider them justified unless you were looking heart failure or emphysema dead in the face. Which I surely hope you are NOT!
Again, best of luck...

Have you ever seen those "smoke away" ads? They drive me nuts! I find it very had to believe that you could quite smoking in two days taking an "all natural" pill.
Best of luck to you, I know it's a tough thing to do.

I tried the patch, it did help with the physical addiction portion of the program, yet the emotional and psychological parts were overwhelming.
I did the psychotropic drugs route this time. I took welbutrine for 3 months then all of a sudden I said to myself this is it, I'm tapering off to 2 smokes tomorrow then none. It worked.
I no longer take the drugs, and I'm not smoking, but the desire to fill a gap is still there. I'm over the physical desire to smoke, it's the ritual that smoking provided I am wanting. Time will kill it I'm sure.
Thanks for all the encouragement.
I'm still working on my basement, and this helps keep my mind of things. I'm in the process of placing the RJ6, CAT5e and speaker wire where I beleive I will need them. My projector, speakers, screen and a/v reciever arrive next week.
FARSCAPE ON THE BIG SCREEN BABY!!!!
I need help...

Think of all the ladies you'll get (if you're single) once you quit smoking! ;) I know that many women (myself included) will not date someone who smokes.
With a great sense of humor like yours and a good addiction (Farscape, that is!), you'll be Mr. Popularity! :D
Good luck some more!

ThirdEYe, do you still have a house full of people? Is that helping or hurting?
I wish you the best.

Oh yeah, we got people here, however, they don't make a diference in whether I smoke or not. I'm an equal opportunity screw up. I really don't need a reason.
Thank You

Good luck thirdEye, as a smoker who is suppose to be quitting sometime soon, sometime real soon, I understand how hard it is to give up. And yes I think it would be a real good idea to start a give up thread.. maybe that will be the incentive I need. (yep no will power, I know, sad isn't it).

Way to go Third Eye...you can do it.:)
Lets be positive about this, you want a smoke, need a smoke, will kill for a smoke, will die for one, sell your soul for another blissful moment with the evil weed.
And then one day you wake up and all the above still apply.
next day you might stop, just for 48 hours, and then the craving realy hits.
two weeks later, having done so well denying yourself, your best friend gets you pissed, and offers you a smoke...............now choose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You pass.
and then you become an ex smoker, not a non smoker, and bore the arse off everyone about how you've given up.
Then your best friend gets you pissed again and.....you go from 10 a day to 30 a day to make up what you've missed,
Then you decide to STOP!
I've never ever tried to stop smoking, honest!
Good Luck Third

When I dated I hated kissing guys that smoke...it's frelling awful...like french kissing an ash tray. Or better yet licking an ash tray clean....doesn't sound good huh....
Just kidding Third EYe. I commend you on trying to quit. It is an addiction. Chew on carrotts or drink a glass of water every time you feel the urge....shut your hand in a door...or slam your hand in a door...the pain response should induce a positve outcome....Of course, your hand will really be sore....and throb alot....hahahaaa...
