I did a quick search and didn't find an existing discussion about the voting in Natural Election. Maybe I'm the only one who has issues with this :)

This is one of the few things that has really annoyed me in Scape. How in frell did they end up choosing Dargo? Out of pity? With the possible exception of Rygel he's the worst choise for the captain's chair.

1) He's the only one who can use Lola efficiently, this alone should be enough to not name him the captain.

2) Hyperrage is a really really useful feature in a captain. Granded, he can control his rages but I wouldn't risk it unless it was the only option.

3) He isn't exactly designed for making plans or leading others, which are pretty much the most important things on captain's menu.

In my opinion the only logical choices for captain were Aeryn or John, in that order.

I think this was how the voting went. Rygel and Granny voted for themselves, Sikozu voted for Scorpius and John, Pilot, Aeryn and Chiana voted Dargo. Again in my option, based on the relationships between the crew, I think that Pilot and John would have voted for Aeryn.

Any thoughts? :)

Rygel votes for Rygel;
Noranti votes for the Devine Eternal;
Sikozu votes for Scorpius;
Crichton votes for D'Argo;
Aeryn votes for D'Argo;

If Pilot voted for Aeryn, which seems logical beased on their bond, then that would mean D'Argo voted for himself which seems unlikely. The two votes that are in contention Pilot and D'Argo... I think Pilot voted for D'Argo and D'Argo voted for Aeryn.

Welcome Elen!!! :D

Exactly, I find Pilot voting for Dargo instead of Aeryn or Dargo voting for himself both equally..wrong. It was a long time ago but Dargo *did* hack one of pilot's arms off, and Pilot and Aeryn have always been close. Also I don't see Dargo voting for himself, he has his own "code of honor" and I don't believe voting for himself is part of that..

And thanks for the welcome :)

Chiana voted Dargo also.

Yeah... that's what I was thinking, too. I don't see Chiana voting for anyone but D'Argo... maybe John, but unlikely compared to D'Argo if you ask me. They've had so much history together, and Chiana has always wanted to believe D'Argo is a very good person, which obviously isn't far from the truth anyway.

well John didn't get a vote so She had to have voted Dargo :)

but if he had a vote I would have guessed Chiana voted for him ;)

That would be my guess, that Chiana added a vote for D'argo. I can't see her voting for anyone else.

I think Dargo voted Dargo because he thought he was the best canadate there is nothing wrong with that... John was obseing over Aeryn and wormholes again... Aeryn was obviously not compleatly over John and she had been away for how knows how long doing who knows what, not any of them anyway. Chiana isn't somone you'd want in charge even if you love her, and Rygel well no. so I think Dargo was the obvious canadate for the vote and if I were him I would have had no problem voting for myself however being me I doubt I would have voted for myself.

They all had been separated for quite some time. John, Chiana, Rygel, Granny and Dargo hooked up only shortly before meeting Aeryn on Moya.

Chiana's vote for Dargo is a must, 4 votes would be impossible without it, like I said in the first post :)

Now that I think of it I don't quite buy Rygel voting for himself either, especially after what happened just before the voting. I believe he would have voted for Crichton in hopes that he'd get him home through a wormhole.

Agreed, this is a far fetch but I'm bored :)

I'm just amusing myself with how I think the votes "should" have gone, in canon there's no doubt that Rygel voted for himself. :)

well it's also canon that Dargo voted for himself however you cut it likly or not but he did.

I've always wondered who voted for Rygel. He was so down on himself in the ep, that i don't think he did. I think that D may have voted for Rygel for some odd reason. That would leave Aeryn, Chi, and probably Rygel voting for D. I'd like to say that John voted for D'Argo and Pilot for Aeryn but Pilot seems so enthusiastic about it when he announces D'Argo as the new captain that i think it may have been the other way around.

It's always surprised me that Crichton didn't get at least one vote though.

Otherwise, if Rygel votes for himself I'd go with the Aeryn vote coming from D'Argo.

What if John voted for Rygel figuring no one else would just to boost his confedence?

I have always thought that pilot's expression was surprise, it is one of the reasons why I think that he voted Aeryn.

I think D'Argo was the only one who knew how Rygel felt about the incident, they had the little chat at one point.

Yeah, I guess that would explain it. Chiana, John, Rygel and Aeryn voting for D'Argo and D'Argo voting for Aeryn makes more sense than what I said before.

I still don't like the idea of D'Argo being the captain of two ships. Not particularly smart of them. :)

Edit: Too late, can't think.
