Why did he name the gun? Was this an Excalibur thing? And did Ben or David come up with this? And as a compelte aside, why isn't their any cool blood red trim on his trusty girl sidearm?

Hmm...now I'm wondering what character reminded him of Johnny? I am going to have to watch that episode again because I don't remember any Johnny-like guy and seems to me I would have noticed something like that.:ewink:

Isn't that the first Ep that we see that he called his gun Winnona? In fact it was Chi and that was before the Nebari boarded. I think he just started calling it that and we are to assume that it occurred some other time. That was one of the things I really liked about FS, not every little thing had to be explained.

WE're in eleventh hour here with the mini coming up! Someone has to have the skinny on where the idea for naming the gun came from. Maybe a fan mailer to Ben?

Um, I think its pretty simple:
Ben Browder (or the Crichton character) thinks Winona is hot.
I just got this from JQ, where the Max Head Rom Crichton asks Crichton if he would like to name his sword. He suggests Uma or Cameron (as in Diaz).
I read somewhere that Ben said every inanimate object should have a beautiful woman's name. I guess Ben thinks Winona Ryder is beautiful. :)
Or maybe it is....Wyonna Judd? :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

From the interview with Ben over at FarscapeWorld:
Who or what is the antecedent for John naming his pulse pistol "Wynonna"? ... (And do we finally have the spelling right? )
Winona Ryder. I continue to screw up the spelling of that one. All important inanimate objects should be named after beautiful women. My biggest regret is that I never seized upon the opportunity to name the Farscape module... But in my soul, I call her "Betty".

I think that pretty much says it all.
Also it may have prevented Harvey from firing one or times before Harvey found the path.... (long story, different topic).

If the 'White death pod' is named Betty( and of the two Betty's I've seen on television, Rubble has the lead in the young category) is one to assume that the pod is Betty as in Rubble, wife of the short caveman and stealer of Fruity pebbles?

99, why not? Flintstone loyalists will say she is a fox and Wilma is an ok looking housewife. (I feel silly saying that about a cartoon. I certainly never looked at Hannah Barbara's work that way.)

As for Betty, a young John Crichton named his truck Betty. So what hot Betty in 1985 would a teen chose?
Betty Gable
From Bettina?

Man, Betty Rubble was hot. She has great curves, and features.

LMAO! She's good but she's no Judy Jetson. And she is most certainly not Kiera Knightley.

Oh yeah Judy. Now that was a fine peice of future tail.
This pic might be a little racy, but not as much as some of the stuff in the "let's Revel" thread.

I think in the farscape game John finds a gun and calls it Winona on the first level.

I guess that leaves out Betty White? :D

Could also be along the lines of "Betty Page" Allot of the Airships in WW2 were adorned with various female artwork on the nose for good luck. Which follows suit with why all captians named their ship with a womans name..."Treat a ship like a Lady and she'll never let you down"

If it's wrong to love a cartoon I don't want to be right! :bonk:
