Why don't guests register???

Every time I visit this Board I always check the amount of registered users at the top of the list. It's been slowly increasing. :D I also check the list of users at the bottom and usually see that we actually have more guests visiting than registered users! What's up with that? :rollin: I keep wondering why these people don't register with the site? :shrug: Surely someone from TPTB must drop in here every now and then to see what we're doing? ;) So, I decided to do a poll to find out why these guests don't register!:rolleyes: :rolleyes:

Uh, I don't think nonregistered folk can answer your poll without registering. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought you had to register to post.

Registered members on invisible mode are shown on the board as guests.

Also, some registered members may not log in each time if they have nothing they wish to post.

I know when I first registered, I couldn't think of a screen name so I didn't register right away. Sometimes I am too lazy to sign in so I am a guest some ot the time.

Some people might feel a little apprehensive about jumping on board. I know I was. I was lurking here from the day the board went up until that November. The reason I didn't join sooner was mainly because I had never joined a forum before and was a little uncomfortable with the idea of jumping in on members who had been posting a while.

I sign in automatically - I wouldn't even know my password if they asked!!

It took me a long time to get the courage to register - I was very leary of the internet/boards & what this was about. I know I don't understand how it all works, but I did finally decide that it was a bunch of really cool people here & that I could safely sign in w/ out alot of trepidation. It took me at least a month or more. (Also the reason of a nick - there were such clever ones here & I'm not creative at all!!) Sure am glad I did!!

I don't register on a board unless I am a regular and I want to post. If someone is OK with just reading the threads, then they don't need to register to do that. Or if they are new and just checking it out.

I know that I was kinda shy at first... I had no trouble coming up with a name, my boyfriend calls me Sweetpea and Aeryn is my favorite... so I just put them together.

But I was really shy. I remember reading every single post like 20 times before I'd ever post it cause I was worried about spelling and grammer and what people would say and stuff... now I just type and click. Spelling errors I don't change... but I sometimes edit for clarity. Still haven't made up for all that time of not posting...

I didn't vote for it, cause we're nice to newbies here... but if someone is not familiar with the board they may think that we're mean to newbies... just cause that happens a lot online... That's why I do a welcome to every new registered member so that they know that there are friendly "faces" out there and so that if they don't even know where to start and are overwhelmed by the size of the board they have someone they can talk to right away and find out what's going on. I think it helps. :)

People who don't register can't post. And if you can't post you can't pad your post count.

And if there was still a Vanity thread, I'd post in there that I am inching my way closer to getting back into the top 20. Couldn't do that if I never signed up.

Wouldn't have met my girlfriend either. :lech:

I think sometimes folks dont register because they dont have a computer at home, so they use public computers like at coffee shops or libraries

When I first found this message board, I signed up straight away because I was like: "Yay! A Farscape Message Board! Score!!!"

And I already had a user-name from a different message board, so i just used the same one.
