I was just wondering if there is such at thing somewhere, I would find it interesting to see who actually produces what, and who owns who, and who runs what... is there some kind of list or something out here, or do I have to find out the hard way? Thank you in advance...

USA and Sci Fi were both part of Vivendi Universal but GE (parent of NBC) recently purchased Universal so GE now owns USA and Sci Fi.

Actually, it's NBC that's taking over the SciFi family. For a long time, many of us here were hoping that it would be Viacom, as they 'seem' to be more genre-friendly, with their Paramount studios producing 'Star Trek' for all these years, but the quality of 'Enterprise' and Showtime's willingness to snub 'Odyssey 5' and 'Jeremiah' has many of us at second-thoughts.

So, back to NBC and Skiffy: the SciFi Channel is /was part of Vivendi-Universal Group (VUE), and General Electric, NBC's parent-company is in the final stages of acquiring most of Vivendi's American holdings, which include the cable networks, USA and the SciFi Channel, and the film and television studios Universal, USA Films, Universal Television and what little there is of SciFi Pictures, as well as the Universal Theme Parks in Florida and California. The Universal Music Group (UMG) has remained with Vivendi.

As far as other components of the picture, right now several *unrelated* studios serve a SciFi's principal vendors - 'vendors' meaning they supply SciFi with their principal content, in terms of dramatic series, new and original movies, etc. Right now, MGM is very high on their list of vendors, as they provide SciFi with their much-vaunted 'Stargate: SG-1' and their anticipated spin-off 'Stargate:Atlantis'. I'm not sure who's behind all of the reality programming, but in recent history, Universal and USA have done their own panel-programming, like 'Crossing Over with John Edward', as they seem to be well equipped to do 'Maury Pauvitch' and other 'live' audience shows within their own corporate umbrella. And that's about it - you'll have to do your own research to find out who and where Skiffy is licensing their rerun-type programming from, though FOX ('X-Files'), Paramount ('Star Trek:TOS') and Warner Bros. ('Babylon 5', 'Code Name:Eternity') are very hish on that list.

Do notice that very few of those shows are produced by USA or the SciFi Channel, though many of those 'breakthrough' mini-series ('Dune', 'Children of Dune', 'Battlestar Galactica') ARE produced by the USA/SciFi group.

The story of series and movies produced for the SciFi Channel by orther divisions of Universal/USA is tumultuous enough for someone else to take up.

Thanks... I completely forgot to tell you why this is of such interest to me... The thing is: we are a group of people( so far a small group, but we're growing), who are trying to get someone to broadcast Farscape in Demark, therefore it it's nice to know, so that we can check which network has got the rights for what...

Good luck Martincore. If you need anything else, feel free to ask. You may want to check out the Network News forum here and ask too.

The SciFi Channel only has the right to air the show in the USA (and only until its contractual rights expire, which is sometime around this March, I think).

When it comes to the rights to air the show in other countries, Henson's and Hallmark can sell them to whoever they choose.

So a non-US channel that wanted to air Farscape wouldn't have to deal with SciFi at all.

Well, Sci Fi just aired the final episode in the series Sunday night (actually Monday morning 1:00am - how lame) so it looks like maybe "sometime in March" is upon us...

As Martincore pointed out we are a small but steadily growing group who inspired by this great place has taken upon us the task of scaping Denmark :D

There are a lot of Danish scapers but no Danish Farscape communities as such, so thats pretty much what we want to create. In time our hopes are to bring the show to the attention of one of the major Danish TV Networks.

As none of us has really done anything like this before any suggestions or pointers on how to go about it is very welcome :)

In time our hopes are to bring the show to the attention of one of the major Danish TV Networks. If as a nation, you were able to fall for 'Riget', I think you'd swoon for 'Farscape'.

It may only be about getting a boxed set into the proper tv executive's hands...
