View Full Version : I Can't Spay My Cat

The little hairy pooper! She has an anomely with her chest. The vet thinks she may be missing her sternum. He did x-rays today as a precautionary measure, since we have become aware that something wasn't right. He says her heart is to the left, her ribs are a mess and he is worried that her diaphram may be compromised. If we try to spay her, she could lose the pressure in her chest and her lungs may collapse. So we are not going to spay.
And of course, it is that time of the year. Minx has already been in heat twice. I guess her name is a little more appropriate that we realized.

From the title of your thread, I thought you were trying to do it yourself! I was going to suggest you get someone to hold her down while you find a pair scissors and some duct tape. :rollin:
I guess you'll just have to make sure no other cats get too close, unless they have little kitty rubbers.

You'll just have to be careful. At least she doesn't have any serious health problems from all that.

:rollin: So did I! I thought, jeez, why don't you just take her to a vet?! :lol
OT, I worked with a lady who tried to clean out her dog's anal glands. I never shook hands with her again.

Duct tape sticks to the fur too much.

Do they make little kitty birth control pills?
I believe they come complementary with "Frisky" cat food.

You would think the female cat activists would be clamoring for a feline birth control pill. You know ... throwing off the yoke of tomcat oppression, and all.

Everyone knows that feline abstinence is the only 100%, fool proof method.

Even before I got my boy neutered, he only tried to mate with other Toms. If a girl-cat was in heat he would literally run away from her! Poor, confused, kitty.
Sorry about your cat's defects. Hopefully, she'll be OK. That yowling they do when they are in heat can get on ones nerves.

Hmmmm...I wonder if PFLAG has a pet division?
As for the duct tape, you could use it to tape her, um, nevermind.

Actually, the vet is checking for us to see if there is anything we can give her to "calm" her down. This is our 4th cat to have some sort of rare medical condition. But she is a year old and is considered grown, so any other problems she would have should have surfaced by now.
