My husband is going to school for a 3D Simulation Programming degree. He had been in Aircraft Pilot training, but switched after the post-9/11 airline collapse. Even when he was in the aviation program, my husband was taking extra math classes because they were "fun". :grr: Now he's using all that math and physics in his programming.
Well, my hubby is very difficult to find birthday presents for, so I thought I'd get him a gag gift...an old slide rule. I got on eBay and found a "Log, Log, Duplex Decitrig" slide rule with manual for a reasonable price. I thought he'd get a laugh out of it and keep it as a "primitive computer" desktop thingy. Boy, was I wrong!
He was like a kid at Christmas with that thing. He promptly fetched his calculator and math books and sat down with the manual.
That's when I realized that:
1) I'm more totally clueless about math stuff than I thought.
&
2) I'm officially married to a NERD!
I was able to overlook the banjo playing, the endless Civil War and WWII and even the math thing...until now.
I guess I just need to give up and buy him a pocket protector for Christmas.
