STATESBORO, Ga. (March 18) - A couple was arrested after their argument over a theological point turned physical following a night at the movies to see ''The Passion of the Christ.''

The two left the theater debating whether God the Father in the Holy Trinity was human or symbolic, and the argument turned violent when they got home, Melissa Davidson said.

''It was the dumbest thing we've ever done,'' she said.

Davidson, 34, and her husband, Sean Davidson, 33, were charged with simple battery on March 11 after the two called police on each other. Messages left with police Thursday were not immediately returned.

According to a police report, Melissa Davidson suffered injuries on her left arm and face and Sean Davidson had a scissor stab on his hand and his shirt was ripped off. Sean Davidson also had punched a hole in the wall, according to the report.

Now, this is really getting out of hand.

Umm... yeah. I guess love and forgiveness were the overwhelming take home message within those 10 or 15 minutes sprinkled amidst the carnage.

Their arguement (whitetrash though it may have been) was based on Dogma and not anything having to do with the movie apart from it reminding them generally of the Trinity.

Whoo, boy, that's the understatement of the century. Or should I just say "I certainly hope it is!"?

Having finally gotten around to seeing the movie, I can definitely say that fighting was just about the last thing on my mind when I left the theater...

I'm just trying to understand the thought process...

"The Trinity is a mysterious and wonderful thing. The oneness, the unity, and yet the distinct individuality making it up... I shall now stab you with a pair of scissors, because my tiny mind is overwhelmed..."

Personally, I like the Nuns on the Run philosophy on the Trinity. God is like a shamrock. Small, green, and split three ways. Although theologists are still debating the first two. Apparently scissor-wielding, wall-punching wackos are debating the last one.
