Daleks May Return On Who

The BBC is in talks to resurrect the Daleks on its new Doctor Who series, the BBC reported. The fan-favorite villains have to clear copyright problems between the BBC and the estate of late SF writer Terry Nation, who created the Daleks, the BBC said.

"We are negotiating to feature the Daleks in the new series, but no deal has yet been made," a spokeswoman for the network said.

Meanwhile, the spokeswoman denied that any actors had been cast to play the new Doctor Who and his assistant, Rose. Filming for the new series is due to begin in Cardiff this spring, for transmission on BBC One in early 2005.

Actors Anthony Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Richard E. Grant and comedians Alan Davies and Eddie Izzard have been linked to the new Doctor Who role, the BBC reported.

:g2f:

For the Sci Fi channel's news reporting service, they sure don't know anything about the worlds longest running sci fi programme ever!

He's "the Doctor" NOT Doctor Who :irate:
And they're his "companions" not his "assistants." I'm half surprised they didn't call her his candystriper (or perhaps orderly ;) )

'The' Doctor... not the Doctor. Think of The as a first name... like The Master, The Valeyard or The Rani. But either way works as the Beeb uses both ways of writing it... at least they didn't write it Dr. Who... that would be unexcusable. :P

:innocent:

And had they written the abreviation, I'm sure they'd have ended up with a TARDIS full of Whovians on their doorstep! :D

You might want to blame the bbc themselves because this article was a paraphrase of this one from the BBC's own newsite.. :D

Daleks may return to Doctor Who

The enduring Daleks were voted television's most evil villains
The BBC is in talks to bring back the Daleks for its new Doctor Who series.
Fans feared copyright problems between the BBC and the estate of late sci-fi writer Terry Nation, who created the Daleks, would prevent their return.

But a BBC spokeswoman said: "We are negotiating to feature the Daleks in the new series, but no deal has yet been made."

She also denied that actors had been cast to play the new Doctor Who and his assistant Rose.

Filming for the new series is due to begin in Cardiff this spring, for transmission on BBC One in early 2005.

Negotiations are going on all over the place about the monsters, including the Daleks

BBC spokeswoman
Writer Russell T Davies told Teletext TV Plus that Dalek negotiations with Terry Nation's estate were "going well" and he expected "a positive result".

He added: "The estate is protecting an important property, after all, and I can appreciate why they are being so careful."

The BBC spokeswoman said: "Negotiations are going on all over the place about the monsters, including the Daleks. We are just waiting to see what comes out."

As Doctor Who's sworn enemies, the Daleks were voted the most evil villains on television in a poll of more than 3,000 GMTV viewers last year.

Actors Anthony Head and Richard E Grant and comedians Alan Davies and Eddie Izzard have been linked to the new Doctor Who role.
