Hi guys!
Okay, in the grand tradition of many scapers, I am going to do a farscape-based assignment for my university coursework.
But I need your help!
I'm working on a script for a radio documentary on the Campaign, for my radio scriptwriting class (surprisingly). I want to tell the story of the campaign through a sort of vox-pop technique - that is, with snippets of *you* *guys* telling the real story.
It would be invaluable to me if you guys would be willing to fill out the following questionnaire.
Please either post the answers here, or email me at scapekid@email.com
Now, it *is* pretty long, and I apologise for that. And unfortunately, since I need a specific kind of data, I'm going to have to ask you to PLEASE READ the following guidelines.
1. As a documentary, the questions are going to be edited out at the script stage. Please can you try and make sure that your answers make sense independently of the questions.
For example, if I ask, "When did you first hear about the cancellation?" it would be far more useful to answer, "I heard about the cancellation in the scifi chat," than just to say, "in the scifi chat."
2. This is a documentary for people who have never heard of Farscape, let alone the campaign. So don't be afraid to just, talk about the sequence of events. Don't assume any knowledge. Although, of course, I also want opinions.
Using the above example, it would be more useful to say, "I first heard about the cancellation during an online chat set up by the scifi channel," than to simply say, "I heard about the cancellation during the scifi chat."
3. Please feel free to skip any questions that you would prefer not to answer, or that you feel you have already answered in a previous question. Make the answers as long and detailed (yay!) or as short as you want.
THE QUESTIONNAIRE!
1. Please give any demographics you wish to share.
2. What is Farscape?
3. Why do you like Farscape?
4. How did you hear about the cancellation and why do you think it happened?
5. If you are/were an active participant in the campaign, what made you choose to join in?
6. What makes this campaign different from other Save Our Show campaigns?
7. Describe and comment on the press coverage the campaign has received, especially the CNN coverage, and their accidental claim that 100s of fans protested at the SciFi building.
8. Describe and comment on the television and radio advertising campaign, please also describe the adverts themselves.
9. Describe and comment on the charity fundraising campaigns, such as BraScape and the Eyeball campaign.
10. Describe and comment on the library and military campaigns, including sfs.com becoming a corporate sponser of the US Navy.
11. Describe and comment on the response from the cast and crew.
12. Describe and comment on any aspects of the campaign you want to, or you participated in.
13. How would you describe the organisational structure of the campaign?
14. Comment on the news of the upcoming mini series.
15. What would you say to someone who asks why you are putting time and money into this campaign instead of something with a more real-world and global impact?
16. Do you have any comments on the idea of television as art?
17. Has the campaign had an affect on your life? Has it made you believe you can achieve more? Have you learned anything about organising large groups of people/taking charge, etc.?
18. Comment on the online fan community. Do you participate in any online fan activities such as music video making or writing fan fiction?
19. Are there any other comments you would like to make?
With many, many thanks,
Scape'
