What is the Worst WMD in the UT?
Well, we have several WMD's to consider...
John Crichton:
1 Scarren Dreadnought (Displacement Engine - for that deep body tan)
1 Scarren Cruiser (not deliberate.. they WERE stupid enough to park on the spot he said was gonna go crossdimensional.
1 Secret Base - Katrazi a la Oppenheimer.
Scarren Dreadnought:
Is there anything beyond just the bad press?
Have we actually seen or known of them blowing anything up?
It's a PK plot, I tell you, to RUIN there good name!
PK Command Cruiser:
Other than the Scarren Dreadnought that Scorpy said whacked his Dreadnought gone nursery, we don't have much on them either!
Talyn & Crais:
1 Command Carrier.
When they get even, they get EVEN!
The Nebari:
1 Command Carrier, the Zelbinion, OR SO THEY SAY!
Not yet activated STI gone mind control, with the ultimate delivery system, Chiana!

Possible spoiler alert.
I think D'Argo's ship Lola is also capable of some mass destruction (it desintegrated a leviathan in seconds). But I have to go with John Crichton and his wormhole weapons. They can destroy entire planets.

Right, Lo'Lann. I always mess up with alien names :). Those clips are all from a dutch insurance company. The funniest commercials on dutch television :)

I think it's the aliens in "Self-Inflicted wounds".

Acronyms. Acronyms are the biggest danger---start flinging them around willy-nilly, and somebody always gets hurt. ;)

There really is no choice but John and the wormhole weapons. It is the whole reason the Scarrans and PK's are after him.
He did a pretty good number on the Gammak base with that unstable explosive at the end of the first season, though I forget the substance's name. So wormholes, nukes and unnamed unstable explosives packed into a landing pod. Crichton really has the WMD market cornered.

I'd say John and the wormhole weapons. John's done a pretty good job at blowing up at least three bases in his time, plus quite a lot of other things, and wormholes, while most don't know much about them, have the potential to cause far more damage than any other weapon depending on who's using them and how.

Crichton...always Crichton.
Its always gonna be the human who frells things up and eventually blows them to kingdom come. Its a given, I reckon.

Crichton is the most destructive one,
but Talyn/Crais are the most dangerous in the UT.

I answered the first choice, but given the right packaging, I think the most destructive WMD has just been posted in the tech thread...
either that or a crazed mature Budong...

Who know's how much fire power he could have had if he got older. plus you could blow stuff up and starburst to safety anywhere you want. no solar flairs required or whatever you need to create a wormhole!

I'm going to have to vote Command Carrier.
We know From Grayza's quote in Terra Firma that it can destroy planets solo which is a scary thought. It is also heavily armed in ship to ship, FTL capable and loaded with lord knows how many attack craft. If one of these were to be stolen/turned by a rouge captain/other psycho who was intent on a killing spree it could cause a horriffic amount of death and destruction before it was finally stopped.
John Crichton needs other things to make him dangerous like ships to get around with. His wormholes tricks are also at best unreliable.
Now John Crichton on a stolen command carrier....

I went with Crichton. After all, he's the home team favorite. ;)

It was a tough choice, for me, between John Crichton and the Nebari, but I finally had to go with the Nebari. They are, IMO, more dangerous even than John, simply because they are so insidious... No one ever sees them coming because they make sure to fly under the radar. And let's face it, there's just nothing subtle about our Johnny boy. By the time anyone realizes there's something a little off about the Nebari, they've already had a chance to start their little mind-cleansing games. And someone who's mind cleansed would be more than willing to use a wormhole weapon, or a command carrier, or a dreadnought, or what-have-you to do whatever the Nebari want them to do.
I'm just sayin'... :kitty:

WMD = John Crichton - absolutely no contest.
After all look at the havoc he has wreaked since arriving in the UTs ... here is a brief look at the Crichton Resume
reprogrammed 2 Peacekeepers
stood toe to toe with Scorpius and won
defeated the Scarrans
defeated the Nebari
defeated the Sebaceans
destroyed a Command Carrier
destroyed a gammak base by igniting an oil covered moon
infiltrated and destroyed a shadow depository
destroyed a dreadnaught
can now not only manipulate but is able to "smell" wormholes
has travelled in a wormhole without a ship
infiltrated and then blew up a Scarran secret base

Talyn ran from them. They make Novatrin Gas (which killed 2 million Ilanics), Seismic Disruptors that can destroy a planet, and Shatter Grenades which can turn bones to powder. To me, that's as WMD as you can get.

wow, i disagree with all of you.
john or at least the living john doesn't use or have wormhole weapons.... he doesn't make them(goes to the same wormhole), he doesn't know the talyn john giant rock trick...... if he tries to go somewhere he hasn't been before, he won't come out at any desired time, place, or reality..... the only weapon he can use is to accidentally alter the universe killing everyone who is alive and most likely himself.... i certainly don't think john "controls" any WMD.... i would think that in the UT there are bombs bigger and better than crichton fission bomb....
so i would actually put non-talyn john last on the list....
of the weapons on the list the nebari is my choice.... they seem to have powerful ships and also if i remember correctly they can activate there plague to kill a ton of ppl.... i'm a little fuzzy on how there master plan worked.... anyway i think the thing chiana was carrying was the most dangerous WMD on the pole list....
next the scarrans(because scorpius thinks they would beat the PKs).
then the PKs which have the weapons to disable talyn...
then talyn which is an unstable and armed version of moya...
last john, the man barely escaping death from the other 3 UT powers....
but the MOST dangerous WMD in the UT(including the talyn john wormhole weapons) belongs to non of these options.... the ultimate weapon in the UT is the "quantum singularity." open that box to destroy any planet, fatally disrupt solar systems and possibly galaxies....
black holes > worm holes

It's gotta be the Nebari plague/war machine, it's already in place and ready to go. Last I checked, John is not quite complete with his wormhole research, and the quantum singularity research was set back a little by, well, a quantum sigularity.

Yes, but if John can create wormholes, he could probably create one next to a black hole. Kinda like the hose on a vacuum cleaner, I guess.
Then again, I don't know how wormholes interact with gravity or mass at long-range...

Black holes and wormholes are compleatly different things
joesway
04-02-2004, 03:46 PM
right worm holes and black holes are different, but the question is which is a more dangerous WMD....
not that anyone in the UT could control either....
what is the deal with everyone picking crichton?
-he is not a weapon yet... he currently does not pose any "danger" to anyone...
i guess everyone plays favorites....
if we are going with hypothedical weapons(attempted but not yet harnessed in the UT), i would take quantum singularities everytime. portable and just as deadly if not more. granted a combination of pulling dark matter through a worm hole at your taget would be the ultimate weapon. though i dout moving an object so massive would be easy, if singularities can be carried around in a ship anything is possible.
in case you didn't know and or wanted to know, quantum singularities or "black holes" appear in "back and back and back to the future." black holes are created when a supergiant star goes supernova. they're believed to be located at the center of galaxies and they're about 18 miles in radius and about 10 times as massive as the sun. the black hole is SO massive that everything in its "event horizon" can not escape, not even light(which makes them invisable). needless to say the event horizon is very big depending on the radius of the black hole its self. if you controled black holes you can break off a piece throw it at ur enemies or place them as an invisable space mines. whatever you do its gonna really hurt somebody.
i've thought about this too much. its similar to the pirates vs ninjas debate, which i also over analyzed too much.
oh btw ninjas are greater than pirates(come on they're ninjas).

Definately Distracting (there are other people on Moya (?) there was a wormwhole (?) what storyline (?)). However, have to confess, there's not much I wouldn't give the boy...:angelgrin

I hate to nitpick, but...
Black holes are created by stars 2-3 times our sun's solar mass. There are two general types of black holes, stellar (the type found anywhere) and supermassive (the type found in the center of galaxies).
Interestingly, the nearest star to Earth to become a black hole is called Rigel!
Anyway, the terms quantum singularity and black hole aren't interchangable; black holes have mass and quantum singularities do not, though both produce approximately the same effect. Think of it as a square/rectangle thing. Black holes are not really invisible either; the particles entering the event horizon are accelerated and heated, producing x-rays, which I'll assume ships could see (can Pilot see x-rays?). The radius of a black hole depends on its size, they're not all 18 miles across. And lastly, it is not possible to "break off a piece of a black hole" to lay them as mines; the massive gravity they have is produced by their mass, so removing mass from the whole would decrease the overall gravitational pull.
I never understood how John was "affected" by a quantum singularity; theoretically when exposed to any mass, the singularity should disappear. But whatever! :)
