It looks like we might do this again this year so I was wondering if y'all wanted something 'real' as the actual award.
If you do, we need suggestions of what it will be - something typically Farscapian and FMD is what I had in mind.
Whatever it is, they will have to be made and we don't want to spend a lot of money on them.
Frunium Slip wanted to make something himself last year, but we couldn't decide what and then we didn't have enough time.
Any ideas?

I like the idea of a DRD  or how about a Moya?

small yellow DRDs with the particular award on the bottom ...
what would they be made from?
They would have to have a broken eye stalk (frelled) that's wrapped with blue electrical tape.

Just remember that we will have to make them ... I was wondering if anyone has any experience working with polymer clay? I've watched people on Carol Duval work with polymer clay and it looks easy enough but I have never done so myself.
PC comes in a range of colors including yellow, black, grey and 'electrical tape' blue. We could use 1/2 a 6" styrofoam ball as the mold for the dome - although DRDs seem to be less round.
Any crafters in our midst?

I recommned painting gold a giant hardware nut. It kind of suits the people here. :D

I have made some tiny DRDs from polymer clay for a checkers set I'm working on for DragonCon (gonna add the checkers to the fabulous chess set DRD2001 did that I somehow managed to win :curtsey: ). I have a whole line of DRDs sitting on my computer monitor. Mine are extremely simplistic. They don't have any detailing, just black wire eyestalks, but they're quite cute. They're very easy to make. Just a blob of Fimo with wires stuck in it. Anyone could do it. Fimo even has a yellow that's just about exactly the right shade for DRDs.

What can I say, I'm mechanically minded.
A nut or a screw. Either one would work here.

I'll put in another vote for the DRDs, although I don't have any ideas as to how to make them. This sounds like a neat idea.

:news:
Here's an update from our factory run by our Friends at Uncharted Territories
Frunium Slip informs me that this year's Frelly Awards (yes this year they are real) are almost finished. He has had a horde of skilled craftsmen working on the 2004 Frelly Awards for months - well "it felt like months!" Frunium commented only the other day, and they are almost done. They still need to have their eye stalks and tools added but the little fellows are just about ready to come rolling off the assemly lines. :woohoo:
So if you have anything that you have worked on, a campaign, a project, a prop, a costume, something you've posted, written and not posted that might make you a contender this year, then get busy and start thinking about those nominations.
The nominations will begin in September so that's just around the corner.

We sure do AS - go to the "2003 Frelly Awards - And The Winner Is" thread. That's all that's left from the awards from last year as the other thread was deleted last November during the 'pruning'
If you would like to help out AS by collating all the categories into a manageable list I would be most grateful. I have not had the opportunity to do so yet, and the category list needs to be revised anyway. We are only going to have 30 categories this year for various reasons - one of which is a time constraint if we do get to do the presentation at Burbank.

those are all from the first post at the frelly awards thread...
how many categories of "fun awards" are we going to have? and i guess we're having actual physical prizes...would we mail them?
oooh oooh i wanna be nominated for stuff!
you know, if we do this for like 5 years, we could then start the "Susan Lucci Frelly Award" for the guy that always gets nominated but still hasn't won.
