All I can say is, I'm frelling psyched about the bloody mini! I am not overly concerned with the musical score, I want the story! This show is so damn good, it could have country music for the background, title, and end credits, I wouldn't even noticed. Too friggin involved in the story line to care!
Love Farscape, for all those out there that don't, learn to love something thats the best for reasons of quality!

I remember Guy Gross on the OZ DVD commentary wishing he got to conduct an orchestra. Well I think he got his wish:D

I don't agree with that. Music is a powerful instrument to carry a story. The last scene of bad timing without music (or with country :P) wouldn't have had the impact it has now. Orchestrated music is just awesome for Farscape.

The Sydney Symphony?!?
I believe the music in this one is going to rock (well, not necessarily BE rock, but still be damn good).
I've been impressed with what Guy Gross has managed to do before, but now he's got the Sydney Symphony Orchestra on his side NOTHING CAN STAND IN HIS WAY!!!
Except possibly Patrick Moore. He plays a xylophone (I've watched that Flash toon far too much)

I've gotta disagree with you, too, Scaper-Wannabe. The music is just one of the elements of Farscape that goes into the list of what makes it all super frelling fantastic!
Last night I watched Bad Timing with headphones on (for the first time that I've ever tried that) -- it's in surround sound, and the music and sound effects are just even better than I thought!
Guy Gross is an incredibly talented genious, knows how to use his craft, and his FS scores are so original.
I wish ADV or somebody would put just the soundtracks in .mpg or CD format on the DVD extras.
Maybe they could come out with some new DVD's with extras that they didn't get the first time? I'd vote for a writer's commentary on John Quizote and some sound tracks! It'd be cool to listen to an ep in the car on long trips...

Did anyone ever read the drivel that was written about Farscape's musical score and Guy?
I hope they have come to eat their words as we (the fans) and the Sci-Fi community have proved them oh so wrong!

whoever wrote that review is a moron. 'nuff saidAs a big time soundtrack collector, I have to admit that most of the criticisms of the show's score are on target. There wasn't a lot of attention to the composition or thematic develoment in ANY of the episodes.
I'd compare it to the ST:TNG-DS9-VOY soundtracks... very little inspiration, no real thematic development for any character. Just with more techno influence. I have a couple of techno soundtracks that I absolutely LOVE, because they have it all. Farscape didn't.
If I didn't love the show so much, I would surely not enjoy it at all. Nonetheless, I DO write GNP/Crescendo fairly often with a request for a compilation of seasons 3 and 4... along with a list of the 40 or so GNP albums I [i]already[i] have, just so they'll take me seriously.
HOWEVER, the involvement of an orchestra strongly suggests that we'll be getting much more this time.

I'd go midway with Farscape's music - I love the openings and the endings; frell, most of the techno, especially once Guy Gross comes in. Some individual tracks from the earlier episodes, such as the one played during Rhapsody in Blue, utilized in "Unity", really make me smile. However, I would say that many others just aren't that inspirational to me, but the power is in the way they're used during the scenes, that's all. They aren't very good stand-alone songs most of the time, but they work for what they're meant to do.
Toward Season 3 and 4, I found some of the more well-known ones simply irresistable. Not perfect, but great. La Crimosa, Salve Me... both of those are always toward the top of a few of my playlists. The theme at the end of Bad Timing was a sensation. It worked for me. Really well.
An orchestra, now!? This is awesome. The Sydney Symphony rocks my world, just like the London Philharmonic has done with several prominent RPGs. If there's more like La Crimosa, and with enough depth with the scenes - if there's a lot of this now, not just a couple here and there like Aeryn's Funeral - then I have to say, the soundtrack here is going to blow me away.
