From Dreamwatch 117 (June 2004):
The secret is out, and Brian Henson can finally talk about it. As previously reported in Dreamwatch, Henson has spent the last five months working as the director and executive producer of a new Farscape miniseries. Written by series creator Rockne S. O'Bannon and former series head writer/executive producer, Farscape: Peacekeeper War revives the innovative sci-fi saga following its unexpected demise at the end of its fourth season.
"We wanted to wrap everything up in a wonderfully satisfying way, but also leave the future open for movies or whatever we might do next," reveals Henson, during a break from editing the two-part, four-hour production. "The mini-series begins with John Crichton and Aeryn Sun getting put back together after they were crystalised (in Bad Timing). The characters are now engaged to be married, they're expecting a baby and they're very much in love. They just want to settle down.
"But the Scarrans and the Peacekeepers have started a huge intergalactic war and they're wiping out populations all over the place, and both the Peacekeepers and the Scarrans are trying to hunt down Crichton because they believe he has the ability to create the ultimate weapon that would destroy the other side. So it's a great story of two lovers just trying to put their family first, but they're unable to. They get sucked into the dilemma of, 'Do I sacrifice my family and potentially myself in order to save everyone, or do I run away and try to save my family and sacrifice everyone else?'
"It's very cool," promises Henson. "It's a big, big story. It's the story of them trying to have their baby and trying to stop a war."
Henson admits that the production of Farscape: Peacekeeper War has been shrouded in unprecedented secrecy since shooting began in Sydney, Australia, in December 2003. "We really didn't want to give away the story," he explains. "That's the fun of science fiction: you don't know where it's going to go.
"I was determined that the script wouldn't be published on the Internet. And if a script of a storyline ever shows up on the Internet, it may not necessarily be right at all - it might be us putting the wrong one up. I want to keep the element of surprise."
Although Peacekeeper War resolves all the show's major threads, Brian Henson notes that it won't necessarily be the final Farscape adventure. A Farscape theatrical movie and an animated series both remain strong possibilities.
"The miniseries finishes in a place that would allow us to make a movie if we wanted to. There are several routes we could take. But we won't really be thinking about that for a while, we'll wait to see how the mini-series does and see how people feel."
Farscape: Peacekeeper War is set to debut on the US SciFi Channel in the closing quarter of 2004. A UK broadcast has yet to be finalised.

Is that not a slightly strange thing to say? Does it imply that there is already or is about to be a storyline already somewhere on the intranet..... or am I reading too much into it?

Thanks, Rydrawong. I was wondering how I'd find a copy of DreamWatch and now I don't have to. I love hearing the general synopsis of the plot.

I've scanned the mag today and posted it up to http://www.benbrowderfans.com/Images/bhintdw117.jpg if anyone wants to see the whole page. I've also scanned the Doctor Who interviews featuring soundbites from Ben and Rockne aswell if anyone's interested. :) http://www.benbrowderfans.com/Images/dwdwbbrob117.jpg

I wonder if this is the beginning of the "buzz" campaign. First the formal announcement that it's going to be on SciFi. Then the chats. Now this article, with tiny tidbits about the plot. Are we soon to see Ben or Claudia on the talk show circuit, or will they wait a month or two for that? Will there be a gradual increase in Farscape eps in better time periods on skiffy? Will they produce a "Making of FS: PKW" like they did for BSG? Articlees in TV Guide and other Entertainment magazines? It's only April, and the mini won't be on until at least October, so I don't anticipate we'll be seeing any major promotion until at least July (ComicCon?) but we may indeed keep seeing little things like this every few weeks just to keep a slow buzz going until they can start to ramp things up. I'm all-a-twitter just thinking about it. :bounce:

Well the usual UK sci fi mags like Dreamwatch,Tv Zone,SFX,starburst and Cult TV will be all over Farscape like a rash but then they always are with any Science fiction programming info/new shows coming up so it's not surprising! :D I'm just hoping that fingers crossed we get some more meatier features. I suspect judging by what Dreamwatch already has(soundbites from Ben,Rockne and stuff from Brain) they have something more substantial already in the can to come out at some future issue. So I guess it's a case of keep your eye out! I for one can't wait to see a Farscape cover again on the mag shelves! :D

Is anyone else scratching their heads and wondering what's up? The mini was intensely hush...hush for months during the filming, but now, when it's in post production, it's *suddenly* ok to talk about and give away what is actually major plot points? Is anyone else standing back saying..."Uh, huh...what's the real plot?"
And...as a spoiler-a-phile...just where were these 'before airing' scripts and plot point give aways? And more importantly...why do I not know about them??? :D
And...HELL YEA....they send my heart soaring with words to the effect that Farscape will continue.

A little spoiler here, a little snippet of the plot there. Kind of reminds of a slow simmering pot and it's all going to explode this fall!!
I can hardly wait :groove:

I like the idea of a big fierce battle here and there in relation to the PK-Scarran war.

Great to hear a bit about the plot! Was Brian serious when he said in the chat that Rygel goes underwater and gathers up the pieces of J&A? I know that it was only later in a deleted scene that we found out that Rygel recovered Aeryn's body in DMD.
Maybe Noranti uses her magic spit and glues them back together!!

I wouldn't call what Brian say about the mini-series much of a spoiler. We all knew that John and Aeryn were not really dead, and the war was not going to be between anyone else other than the Scarrans and the Peacekeepers! As for John and Aeryn having to make hard choices about their future and the future of their baby, well, it wouldn't be Farscape if they didn't!

Remember they were contractually unable to say anything about the mini officially because up until very late they hadn't sold it and when it was sold Sci fi were allowed to officially announce it publically. There must be heaps of politics and do's and don't that we aren't necessarily aware of in how the whole industry works and have to take that into consideration. :) Also this time around they made a huge effort to keep the mini under wraps -moreso than they used to. When an item is being sold around it's vital that the whole concept and commodity is kept exclusive I guess. I mean who wants to buy something that's already been published on the web?
Also remember this is Henson and TPTB.. you remember how twisted and sneaky they are? :D I reckon we've only seen the very tip of a huge ice berg in terms of spoilerage.. I think they have alot more surprises for us.. ;)

LOL-depends on who you now. ;) Seriously though there was some leakage -some even sci fi did with their own advertising! Remember them spoiling JQ showing Zhaan back!?!

Thanks B. AngieWeeeell, ok, for some reason I still don't totally understand the entire concept of a mini more of Farscape *had* to be hush hush...I can accept that industry wise it had to be, though I don't understand such reasons....then who knows the contractual gotta do's from the financial backers...
He *could* be refering to the fact that Farscape oft aired in the UK before the US. Then, yes, hell yes, there were spoilers en mass. OH yea...there was the purple ship spoiler and then the Dog With Two Bones spoiler of death at the wedding......Don't TPTB realize that drowning people will grasp at anything?? :D

I still think it would be cool if the Nebari joined in the war and wiped both the Scarrens and Peacekeepers out to where peace was their only option. Of course, you know that the Peacekeepers will lose the War. The only way for Peacekeepers to win the war is for Crichton to give them the wormhole tech. Otherwise, the Scarrens will destroy every remaing Peacekeeper in the Uncharted Territories. Peacekeepers have no chance!
Scorpy has said countless times that the Peacekeepers are outnumbered and are not able to defeat the Scarrens. They should have named series Scarren War, because we all know that the Peacekeepers will lose the War. And, yes, we know that Crichton and Aeryn will sacrifice their future as a family for everyone else. But, if there is to be a movie that means that our heroes cannot die in the Peacekeeper War!

FYI you can usually buy the UK Sci-fi magazines in Barnes and Noble like Dreamwatch etc. cause that's where I buy mine when I find out about Farscape being in one of the mags.
Thanks for the post from Brian. Where there any pics with the article.

Pretty much what I was going to say. All he did was state the obvious.
I think the idea of an animated show as a spin-off/continuation is much more appealing now that we will be getting a mini. If the show is written by the same writers and animated by talented artisist. The show could certainly get made for much less money and would fit great on adult swim or even on Skiffy.
