Hey guys, I'm new here (so be nice :) ) I've been a scaper since i first saw the Premiere. i wouldve joined up earlier, i've never really been a forum guy...till now. :mischief:
On more than one occasion i've been watching Farscape and had tears well up. Aeryn and Crichton... There has been so many moments where its like i can feel what theyre going through, which is weird, i'm never usually like that with love stories, but with Farscape its different.
I dunno, maybe that doesnt make sense, its hard to put into words, but thats the way i feel when i watch them, maybe its just me?

Don't worry, Scapers are about the nicest group you'll ever chat with or meet.
I'm sure you'll find that you're not alone in your sentiments about the emotional side of Farscape. The relationships portrayed are remarkable in their depth, and often very powerful. There's a visceral reality to them that makes them all the more compelling to watch. As for watching with tears in your eyes, well, almost anyone on the board can vouch for that.
The part of Farscape I love the most is the characters themselves. Very few shows have ever captured what it takes to make a character "real", like Farscape has. That, and you consider that some of it's most beloved characters aren't even alive! It's a remarkable achievement in film-making, if you ask me.
But, the most enduring aspect of Farscape is the intense loyalty and brilliant ingenuity of it's fans. I'm frequently humbled by the talent and drive of my fellow 'Scapers. How many other so-called "cult" shows have achieved what Farscape has? Whatever has happened with Farscape, and whatever will happen in the future is due to it's fans. I'm proud to be part of it.

Welcome :hi: Glad you found us. And you are not the only one who was caught blinking away tears during the show. :D
You came to the right place. We are all nuts about this show. *sniff*

Believe me, it's not just you! FS is the first and probably the only show that I've become such a fan for and it's largely because of John and Aeryn and their story. Crying? Of course!

Nope, not just you. I know I was in actual mourning for weeks (if not longer) once I saw the last credits roll on Bad Timing.
I sobbed like a baby at The Locket, Wait for the Wheel, Infinite Possibilities, and The Choice. I think I screamed (and scared my dogs and cats) along with D'Argo at the BT cliffhanger.
You're in good company and welcome :hi: to FMD.

What's uniquely special to Farscape is the longetivity of the stories. How many of us can keep track of many times we've watched an ep, yet still are deeply moved by the story. Just last night I watched Infinate Possibilities and I was sobbing and shaking afterward. I've seen it so many times, I know exactly what camera angles, actor movements, not to mention dialog that is coming, and STILL I'm deeply moved by Farscape.
Little wonder that we've fought tooth and nail to get it back!

I have NEVER before or since been able to watch repeats of anything like I do Farscape, much less continue to be so affected. What is it they put in there that's so addictive (other than excellent writing, beautiful stories, great acting, superb production values.....)?

And yet DK says that spoilers ruin the effect of Farscape. I think he needs to sit amongst the Scapers as they watch new Farscape. Then again, with emotions as high as they are, that's not such a good idea :) But his comments do sadden me, in that they reveal he truely has no clue how deeply this show has it's tenticles in our hearts.
My reactions to watching the gut wrenching eps have definately toned down...I no longer scream NOOOOOOOO at the top of my lungs for 10 minutes. I no longer pace near frantically waiting for commercials to pass and the ep to resume. I no longer gripe that the episode was only 5 minutes long... :D
